Restaurant on Magazine that took over the spot Cavan used to be at. Has anyone been and have a review of this place? It opened last year and is a tasting menu spot, but I haven't heard anything about it.

I have been. Multi course tasting set up, with wine pairings if you want that. I thought it was very good, but expensive. I am interested to see how they’ll do.

I have one friend that went when they first opened and he did not like it at all, thought it wasn't close to worth it for the money and not in the same ball park as Saint Germain or Emeril's

I have another friend and she has gone twice and thought it was incredible both times (more recently), up there with those places.

I have not been

I went a few months ago

I thought it was very good and unlike many of the local places around. The menu was as you would expect a southern tasting menu would be, but varied enough and very high quality. I enjoyed the wine pairings. The house was cool and I liked the overall dinner experience.

It was expensive but I have a tough time valuing places like this. It was in line or slightly cheaper than similar tasting menus I've had in other cities.

I went late last year. I really liked the dining experience. It was almost more like a dinner party. Just a handful of tables and everyone was at the bar talking before dinner. The bartenders were knowledgeable and while they had drinks on the menu, they would ask what you like and don’t like and would vary up the ingredients. The chef came out and we took our seats and he told his story and they served everyone at the same time. Service was good and ingredients are from local farms because local farms was where the chef had to go to get ingredients when he started out.

It was more price than some other tasting menus, but the experience was well worth it in my opinion. Would highly recommend!

Thanks everyone for the feedback and reviews

I'll probably check it out in a couple of weeks and report back. It's either this or possibly Dakar.

Can’t go wrong with either. Dakar’s food is probably a little better, but Etoile is a little more of an experience.
