Simvastatin - Triglycerides

Anyone take this statin before? Dr. wants to put me on it at 20 mg a day. My triglycerides are high even after other non- statin medications and exercise.

Statins will only drop trigs so much, their job is to lower LDL. What’s the rest of your lipids looks like?
Cutting out sugar, alcohol & adding 2-4g of quality omega 3 will help trigs.

I've had success with a supplement of citrus bergamot. Initial trig decline over 30%. 150 to the 90s, then to the 70s. And exercise does the trick for me as well. Burn those stored things.

A caveat about statins. They can have potential serious side effects.
I took them for a couple of weeks and they made every muscle hurt and my joints were sore. I felt like I had been hit by a freight train.
I quit taking them and it took about 3 weeks before that mess cleared out of my body.
I had 'brain fog' and it was getting hard for me to concentrate.
BTW, my trigs, HDLs and blood pressure are normal. My LDLs were a tad too high but that was it. I was 'referred' to a cardiologist.
I was herded into the cardiologists room and given another EKG, blood pressure test and given a script of Lipitor and told to take a baby aspirin every day.
Cardiologist told me 'call me if anything comes up, see ya later. Bye.'
To say the least, I was not impressed and will not be back to that cardiologist.
BTW, the standard lipid panel test is outdated and nowhere as accurate.
Request a NMC lipid panel test or a similar lipid like the Cardio IQ Advanced Lipid Panel .
These tests goes a lot deeper and looks for hidden issues in your blood that the standard lipid panel will not find.
IDK what your diet consists of but in general,
Cut out sugars and all flour products.
Reduce and eliminate alcohol consumption.
Lose some weight.
Eliminate fried foods.
Start eating more vegetables, and a little fruit like blueberries.
Eat good healthy proteins, ie fish, steak
Keep up with your exercise regimen and probably add some resistance exercising as well.
BTW, get your doc to check your liver and kidneys for potential issues. This is usually covered in a standard blood test.
Not trying to sound too preachy here.
Best regards.

i take 10mg nightly as part of my regiment and have for 5+ years. i get zero sides and do not see the aches and pains some others get and have zero issue with memory. to be fair i take other stuff to help memory so not sure if that off sets any negatives.

And if anyone ever gets the aches and pains from statins, just got to taking it every 3 days. You'll still get the benefits and likely get rid of the side effects.
