Awful situation all around. I hope he can make a full recovery and this doesn't make him a worse player.

He already seems to hit a ceiling sometimes so he needs all the mobility he can get.

Same type of thing that happened to Durant in the Finals with Golden State, a calf injury led to an Achilles tear.

I tore mine two years ago. Of course, I'm a 41-year-old non-professional athlete. It's still not the same. God speed.

They know beforehand that it's not a "calf injury". It's an achilles injury and the knowing play with the understanding it could give way at some point.

What were you doing when you tore it?

Tennis. I still play.

I can still move side to side really well. I just don’t have the straight line of the speed that I used to.

That sucks for the Pacers with how the N.B.A. season starts two weeks from now.

Not the career death sentence it once was, Cam Akers playing RB in the NFL with two torn Achilles gives me some hope.

Brutal obviously to go from one win away from a title to hurt and losing the game and missing the next season.

Most predictable injury ever. Heartbreaking that he really had to play given the circumstances.

The great Bill Simmons called it after Game 5 and said he really shouldn't be playing despite the stakes, but since it was maybe Indiana's only shot and such a dream run and their window was so small that it'd be torture to not play.
