I typed “what does current IV of $SHOP options predict?” Into the google search bar and got this:

quote:

AI Overview +7 The implied volatility (IV) of $SHOP options predicts the market's expectation for the magnitude of future price movements, not the direction. As of October 30, 2025, the key takeaways for $SHOP's IV are: Expected Price Swings: The current IV for $SHOP options is 64.18%, with an IV Rank of 45.33%. An IV Rank in the mid-range (45.33%) suggests that the current options premiums are neither exceptionally cheap nor expensive compared to their levels over the past year. Magnitude vs. Direction: A high IV in general (like 64.18% in absolute terms, though its rank is mid-range for SHOP) indicates the market is pricing in potentially large price swings for Shopify stock. It does not predict whether the price will go up or down. Upcoming Events: IV often increases ahead of significant events like earnings reports, as the market prices in uncertainty. Shopify is scheduled to report earnings on November 4, 2025, which likely contributes to the elevated IV. Potential "IV Crush": After such binary events, the uncertainty is resolved, and IV typically experiences a sharp drop, a phenomenon known as "IV crush". This can cause the price of options to decrease even if the stock moves in the expected direction, especially if the move is not greater than the market's (now lower) expectation. In essence, the IV of $SHOP options suggests that traders anticipate significant movement around the upcoming earnings, but the current pricing is in line with the stock's historical volatility range. This makes options relatively priced, influencing some traders to potentially use premium selling strategies, anticipating that the actual move might not exceed the high market expectations or that volatility will contract after the event.
incredible to me that within less than second the Google AI had pulled the relevant information, analyzed it and provided context and a summary. No opinion just the facts

How long before they start giving an opinion? How do you feel about that?

You can ask it in different ways to give its opinion.

I will give an example they happened to me.

I asked if Mineral Rite RITE was a good penny stock. It said it could not tell me And doesn’t give advice.

I then asked if Mineral Rite had good financials or news, yet acknowledging its penny status.

It went into a long diatribe about how its situation is actually good for a penny and that of all the under .15 stocks, it had actual good news and a revenue stream.

I the asked it if RITE was a good stock and he t finally felt confident enough to tell me yes, it has less risk than others out there.

Keep challenging Chat. It will give answers.

this wasn’t chat this was search. I understand what I’m getting if I volunteer to go back and forth with a chatbot; it is trained to respond using the tone and phrasing of the questioner. Of course you are eventually going to get a value judgement from the bot.

AI search results are now and have been the very first return on any search. It’s honestly hard to go any further as the results have become so detailed. Not a small step to add opinion there and I think that development will be seismic, and not in a good way
