The Alabama ranking is fvcking ridiculous. Schlabach basically talks about how much they lose and then acts like he's basing it on schedule. Great job Mark, reward a team for an easy schedule.

8 is a good place for us to start, but bama being #4 is really fricking stupid.

Preseason polls do this all the time. They project based upon the schedule. Not that its fair, but that's how it happens.

i agree
it should be on the talent of the team...not what they could possibly do

for example...07 vs VTech
they were number 9 and we were number 2...those rankings were pretty close to where they should be (based on the talent of the teams)...as shown by the final rankings

i was happy to see rutgers at #25, but they lost their qb and 2 best receivers.

Which is why I hate preseason polls. Think about it. The media complains about poor OOC schedules, while lauding teams like USC for their OOC schedule. Yet, these same media folks will do anything to save face at the end of the year so they basically reward the teams like Texas Tech that play nobody because they know they will get 8-10 wins.

Same reason VTech is highly ranked. If VTech was in the SEC, they would be battling Arkansas for fourth in the west.

i don't care what they say about how JPW wasn't that great and he didn't do much.

he was still a 4 year starter and the leader of the offense. they have absolutely no experience at QB and it will show, just like it did for LSU this past year.
They also lose their defensive leader.

you can't just replace your leaders on both sides of the field from the last 2 years and expect to not skip a beat.

people forget they should have lost to LSU and Ole Miss, and only beat Kentucky by 3.

Their 3 biggest rivals, Auburn, Tenn. and LSU had one of their worst seasons of this decade also to help their cause.

So we can say how overrated they were when Bama beats them 1st game of the season.

Does anyone really believe that VTech is a top five team and why? I'm really interested to hear this. The last time they started ranked this high they lost by 41. Beating Cinci in the Orange Bowl isn't impressive. Winning the ACC over BC, which lost to Vandy in their bowl game.

LSU beat a team tied for the division title in the ACC by 35 on the road.

VTech is very much overrated and it pains me to hear about how hyped that game with Bama will be.

Nope. They'll be solid.

They played 15 Frosh last year. They had another great recruiting class. They catch LSU at home. Don't have to play the two other strongest SEC teams (UF, UGa) during the regular season. If we had their schedule and they had ours, the rankings would be reversed.

But their SEC schedule is very easy. If they get past VT, they could get on a roll.

But I wouldnt want to face the VT defense with a QB starting his first game.

Bama will lose 4 to 5 games this next year, Ole M iss, LSU, and Auburn just to name a few.

I think people forget how important QB play is. Look at this last year for LSU, and the previous year when Tim Tebow got his first start. And there's no way the starter for Bama this year will compare with TeBlow, even as a sophomore.

Saban made a mistake not gettin this kid more playing time.

LSU got caught because the guy who got the playin time was gone. Miles is pretty good about gettin QBs reps. Saban not so much.

Yeah, ND is really on a roll now that they beat Hawaii in Honolulu.
