Friend is going to ship me a shotgun from Vegas. What are the procedures for doing so? Have an FFL holder lined up to receive.

His FFL may have a box he can use. If not, ask him to buy a cheap plastic rifle/shotgun case. You can get them for $30 online or at Academy. Tape it up and stick a label on it.

I don't know if it's 100% required on the shipper's end, but I've always sent stuff to my dad in Florida via my FFL up here in Indiana. They usually charge me a transfer fee, but it's the same price that a shipping label would cost me if I had shipped it directly to my dad's FFL.

I'd drop it off at my FFL, give them my dad's FFL information, pay, and walkout. They usually would have a box that would fit whatever it would be that I'm sending to him.

Why go through the trouble of FFL?
Put it in a box and send it UPS

Make sure it’s idiot-proof packed. I had BP Shop send a shotgun back to Beretta in the original box and they beat the shite out of it to the point I traded it in.

Shotgun in Nevada. That state requires it to be mailed to an FFL holder.

Wondering it she can just check it as part of her luggage when she flies from Vegas to here.

I have an FFL dealer to receive it in my state.

Do I need an FFL dealer to ship it from Vegas? From what I can tell, law just requires receiver to have FFL.

Went to UPS store and manager showed me a golf club box they use and sell.

You can’t ship a long gun to another person directly unless that person borders your state. It’s best to use an ffl. Second reason if it gets lost or stolen shipping insurance won’t cover it if you lie about the contents. The way UPS and FedEx lose shite these days I wouldn’t chance it unless it was something I didn’t care about. FEDEX almost lost my Colt nighthawk a few years ago. It was stuck in BR distribution center for 4 days. I had to ATF involved to get them off their arse.

Ups requires you to inform them of it when you ship

Thanks for all the help.

Owner was traveling from Vegas to here. Got a hard shell gun case, five locks, and checked it in on Delta with rest of luggage. No issues. Friend said it felt nice knowing she was carrying a shotgun legally in an airport. Hehe
