Buy low. Sell high.

That's all I've got.

First question is why do you want to buy gold and silver?

Also are you wanting to take ownership or just invest in funds

If you want to buy and store it yourself reputable sellers like APMEX and silvergoldbull offer everything but at high premiums. If you want to try to find deals buy through online coin shops on eBay live or whatnot, occasionally you can grab some steals and your purchases are fully backed.

Easiest way IMO to gain some exposure to the silver or gold market is to buy sprott ETFs, PSLV for silver and PHYS.

A popular saying in the PM community is if you can’t hold it you don’t own it but my recommendation is do what’s best for your individual situation

Agree with Fred, but the trick with online dealers is to buy what you prefer when it is on sale.

Reputable online dealers include APMEX, SD Bullion, BGASC, JM Bullion , Provident Metals, Kitco Metals. I’d recommend signing up for their respective programs, which will regularly notify you of monthly/weekly specials.

One word of caution… if you buy from eBay or similar, beware of fakes. You can purchase an analyzer/tester …. along with an accurate digital scale to avoid fakes. This is one of the reasons that some stackers prefer government-minted coins and bullion over generics … they do so because its harder/riskier for the fraudsters to knock-off the government minted products.

I’ve been testing for metals several years now (since 2016) and I have yet to encounter any fraudulent coins through reputable dealers. (I never buy through eBay or Alibaba)

If you are new to silver, be advised that it is sold by the Troy ounce (12 ounces / pound) rather than the typical Avoirdupois 16 oz per pound. (A troy ounce is heavier than an avoirdupois ounce by approximately 2.753 grams.)

What is a reasonable Premium for Buyers to pay? It depends.

For bullion bars it runs from $0.29/oz to $1/ oz depending on the size and type of the bar.
For rounds it runs about $0.59 to $1.59/oz.
For government minted Coins it varies highly, with Silver Eagles commanding $3 to $5 per coin for uncirculated.

Cash gets you the best price, while CC is higher, generally speaking.

Good fortunes
