Instead of Plagiarism, some would call it copyright infringement.
I remember nearly 30 years ago being in band and the band had its own copier to copy music, but it was always with a wink and a prayer no one at the publishers would find out. The band would keep the originals on file while each member got a copy to rehearse with and play with in the stands. It would be asinine to use the originals if it were raining or have the potential to get lost.

If you're still half-way decent on your trombone and haven't left it sitting in the closet unattended for several years, just pull it out of the case, turn up the speakers on the computer and play along with some YouTube vids of the band to figure it out.
I learned all the LSU songs on my trumpet by doing this with an LP of LSU pep songs when I was in high school and it paid off HUGELY when I auditioned for Frank Wickes for a spot in Tiger Band in 1986. (Almost all the pep songs are written in Bb concert key so they're pretty easy to learn by playing along.)
