Any of you baws raised these before? I'm curious how they fare in warmer climates like Texas

Have had great success with them in South La. Very docile, hardy and good layers.

*Plymouth Barred Rocks*

And they're great chickens and take the heat extremely well in the south. Some of the hardiest chicks you can get.

Not the biggest eggs, but still quite fine.

Also very personable and sweet chickens. Very good natured and talkative and docile. Overall one of the best breeds you can raise.

I just started with chickens last spring. Got 4 PBR’s and a rooster.
They have done great. We lock them in their movable enclosure at sundown which they go in on their own like clockwork. Let them back out mid day to forage in the yard. 95% of the time they lay in nesting box’s in enclosure even if the door is open. Every once in a while they will lay in a random spot around house.
Wife and kids love em. They are quite entertaining.

Good chickens. Take the heat of S La pretty well. Small to medium eggs.

First breed of chickens I ever remember us having on our place in CENLA growing up.

We have a barred rock rooster and 1 hen right now. The rest of our chickens are a mix of a bunch of different breeds mostly because people give them to us after they try to raise some in their back yard.
