I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the remakes and RE 7 and 8. I’m stoked to see where they go with this one! Apparently there’s been Easter eggs in previous games hinting or teasing the plot of this one.
Really hope they continue to build this franchise like a 50 year old soap opera! Love how they keep taking chances and mixing up the different types of horror from fast paced survival horror to slow burn intense psychological horror. It’s turning into something almost everyone can enjoy.

Capcom has been on a nice run with their string of sequels and remakes for the resident evil series.
They aren’t universally making A tier content but I somehow manage to enjoy everything, including the fumbles despite their shortcomings.
3 remake was criminally short and was missing quite a bit of content but it was still okay. I wish they’d have fleshed that out better.
8 was kind of a letdown as a follow up to 7. It’s almost like “what if we remade 4 with fairytale elements?” But it still had charm.
50 year old action hero Leon is hilariously cheesy to me, but I’m not expecting high art. Keep it coming.

I like the design of the zombie models in Leon’s gameplay trailer. Seems like Capcom took some inspiration from The House of the Dead games when designing their aesthetics and movement mechanics.

If you haven’t played the original RE1 Remake, do it.
I believe it’s still on sale for $5 on PSN.
Very, very different from RE4-current but I played it over Christmas break and it became one of my favorite games ever.

Really really liked RE4make but RE village was not good imo. I don’t like first person games generally though even though I did enjoy most of RE7. From what I gather you can play RE9 in first or third person though. I’m optimistic but not pre ordering.
You should play the remake of RE1 I agree with the above poster. It’s a great game.

You can play re village in 3rd person too. They added it in later

Yeah I think I saw that. I just don’t think village is a very good game regardless. It’s technically solid and well made I just don’t like really anything about it and never had any desire to go back and play it again.
Ethan should’ve never been a character for more than one game. His appeal to me was pretty spent by the end of 7 which had an amazing first 2/3ish and pretty rough final 1/3.
I tend to like the older games and remakes more though than anything from 5 on, even though 5 is fun to play and 7 is good imo so I am probably in the minority. I really hope the next game is a remake of Code Veronica. Claire is my favorite RE character and Capcom seems to hate her so I’m not confident
As to the plot of RE9 it connects back to outbreak which were fun games so I will likely enjoy this one the most since 4.

IMO, all of the RE games after 7 have been meh at best.
RE4make was good but it was still just a copying of the original RE4 game, albeit on a better engine with better graphics. Same with RE2.
RE7 took a complete departure from the main series and innovated it in the most immersive way. It has a grounded, minimalist approach to horror which is what the series was desperately needing at the time. Seems like Capcom forgot that over time.
I’m done with remakes. Give me original games that have a distinct tone and feel compared to previous ones. I don’t care if it takes 5-7 years to produce those kind of games. It beats playing remakes where everything is predictable and you already know what’s coming.

I get that stance. They are going to do more remakes regardless though because money and you can make an extremely solid case Code Veronica actually needs and deserves a remake, its a great game with some insanely rough edges while containing a bunch of necessary story and set up for RE5. I dont think they are going to skip it and go straight to 5 but again, they seem to hate Claire, so it wouldnt shock me
Code Veronica basically has a trans minor villain as well. Dunno if Capcom has the balls to go there. Could see them just saying frick it and moving onto 5.

RE9 looks alright but I really wish they would do away with the stalker enemies that were present in RE7, RE2make, and village.
I guess you could say that the stalker enemies in those games were justified because they were part of the story, but in RE9 it literally looks like a cheesy haunted house simulator with a big monster chasing you. That’s the biggest downside to it. Everything else looks good though and I like the design of the zombies, particularly the doctors.

I agree the Stalker in this game looks....off. From what I have seen and heard though the story will justify it. If you have played outbreak 2 you will understand this game far better most likely. Outbreak and outbreak 2 are really good games so I would suggest anyone playing this that hasnt played those play them, especially outbreak 2 since the direct connection comes from that one if memory serves.
