What's the hidden gem of the Caribbean?

Week before Easter.

No to the Caymans and Bahamas.

TIA.

Hidden gem's typically have limited flights. Hard to do quick with limited flights in and out...

Not really a hidden gem but Aruba is awesome and wasn't overly crowded.

Turks and Caicos is a relatively quick and easy flight. It’s definitely worth a look.

Aruba

A lot of people like it, but for me it was one of my least favorite places that I have visited. At least the tourist areas.

The desolate north side of the island and the wild donkeys were cool. And the local neighborhoods. I also got a very good haircut.

The rest of it was too Americanized for me. Pass.

Hidden gem for what? For natural beauty of the island? For culture? For diving or snorkeling? What do you want to do?

Go to Costa Rica or Roatan. There will be drunk Canadians at both, but 737s direct out of IAH, and no puddle jumpers. You can book villas or compounds in either. They're probably too low brow for your OT rich style, though.

I’ve never been to St. John but I’ve heard it is beautiful. Does it qualify for a quick trip though?

St. Croix. Little bit of everything there. East end is dry and desert-like. West end is a rain forest. Great beaches, laid back. Lot's of good places to eat. Great snorkeling.

St. John is amazing. If you're looking for low-key, "lush island paradise" vibes it's really hard to beat. Not overly tricky to get to (have to fly into St. Thomas and get to the ferry, ~30 min ferry to/from STM), not crowded, very solid dining, incredible beaches, stunning scenery, and just a very chill vibe. Easy to island hop and get over to the BVIs, as well. One drawback is that groceries, gas, etc, all are very expensive on-island. If you're making it a quick trip, this shouldn't affect you too terribly much.

St. John is one of my favorite trips I've ever taken. i usually like to hop around and try new places, but St. John has me considering making a change to that strategy after being there this past summer.

I had the same experience. It was OK to visit but very underwhelming compared to most of the places I’ve been in the Caribbean, including Isla Mujeres and Holbox

You said no to the Bahamas, and it’s not technically in the Caribbean, but you should consider Eleuthera. Very low key, you’ll have most beaches to yourself, and tons of places to explore. Others have suggested St. John, and I agree it’s great, but Eleuthera is even more low key than St. John.
