Going to all inclusive in Cancun for Mardi Gras. Thinking of going to Holbox for a day or 2. Reading and watching videos not sure if it is a Sh** hole or just a secluded island that would be fun to explore. We love Isla Mujeras and realize it is a different vibe. Any suggestions? Thanks

what are you looking at that would lead you to believe it’s a “shithole”?

I would recommend either staying in Holbox or not going to Holbox. It is a bit of travel with the ferry and not as easy to get to from Cancun as people realize. It is an awesome place to vacation though.

Been to Holbox several times, I love it there. Just know that when it rains, the streets can get pretty flooded.
what do you wanna know about the island?

If it would be worth a days visit with one overnight stay. If so what to do?

Def stay over night.
-take kite surfing lessons
-chill on the beach with cheap and amazing food, local DJ's spin downtempo house (it's not loud, this is NOT cancun)
-rent this pier at playa punta cocos for the day for $50 and locals will come up to you selling fresh ceviche, soak up the sun, chill in the water.
