Haven’t seen this brought up yet RE: Rev Share contracts

How many times do players or their stalwart “agents” need to see someone touch the hot stove before they learn not to sign something with conditions, days before exploring other options?
…I’m glad things are going our way this offseason, but some of this shite is really comical to watch play out.
I don’t personally believe these contracts have teeth, and schools that specifically deny transfer are acting illegally — but the threat of litigation is at minimum an inconvenience from a player’s POV.
So… Why the frick would you sign anything if you’re having second thoughts. If they’re offering hundreds of thousands of dollars… they’re not gonna cut you from the team if you wait a week to lock in

They won’t get cut from the team if they don’t sign, but there may be no revenue sharing money left for them if they wait too long to sign. Teams will move on and find a replacement if they don’t feel secure that the player is going to sign and stay with the team. It’s actually a bigger question why more teams aren’t putting in stronger penalties to deter players from signing, but then leaving anyway. It’s impossible to manage a roster and a budget in the current environment. Rules have to be put in place that prevent other schools from signing players once they have signed with someone else.

The question I want to know is: if a player opts out (like a bowl game) do they lose out on their portion of rev share? (I know they won’t lose out on NIL since it’s different)
