Did you just pull that number out of your butt?

You can look at all the reporting on his signing and find multiple sources quoting that figure. Do we know for sure those sources are accurate? No, we don’t, but they’re the same sources saying Seaton is looking for $3.5-$4M. So, if you believe the Seaton number, why would you not believe the Leavitt number?

That’s qb money!

For some schools maybe. Leavitt got $6M+. Paying an LT $4M isn’t that out of line with the starting QB/LT ratio in the NFL. The average salary this year for a starting QB was $30M. 15 LT made $20M+.

I guess I'm not sure how that trolls ole miss… He could've committed tomorrow morning and probably would've had a better effect cause more people would've been awake for it

Why else do you think they did it at exactly 11:59 PM? It’s clearly intended as a symbolic gesture and it most certainly rubs the last minute nature of the mass exodus from the Ole Miss roster in their faces. It’s trolling, for sure. I’m not saying that in a negative way. It’s who Kiffin is. Sometimes people need not to take themselves so seriously. In many ways, Ole Miss had this coming.

Sticky situation I think. He never made it into the portal i don’t believe because we contested it. Not sure how that will shake out

He met the deadline to request being placed in the portal. The question is whether Ole Miss has any grounds under NCAA rules to deny submitting him to the portal within 48 hours as required. If they don’t, either the NCAA will step in and force them to or he will just do what Lucas did in going from Wisconsin to Miami and disenroll from Ole Miss to side step the portal.

what is petty about it… There was no deadline tonight for him to commit

That’s the point. There was no reason for them to post the announcement exactly at 11:59 PM other than to troll Ole Miss.

Neither Dottery or Prince So we gotta close with Seaton

They’ve already informed Ole Miss of their intent to enter the portal. They fulfilled their obligation.

Portal has closed So who’s in it?

Do you really think if a player just informed his school in writing of his intent to enter the portal, we’d know about it already?
The players just have to declare their intent to enter the portal by tonight. They don’t have to sign by the deadline.

According to the house settlement case you pay the buyout and also take a cap hit the next year

That just means the money paid for the buyout counts toward the cap. It doesn’t get counted twice. If you pay the player $1.7M and $300K for the buyout, you don’t get to only count the $1.7M toward the cap. You have to count the full $2M. Effectively, they are saying you are paying the player $2M and then he is paying the $300K buyout. It’s still only a $2M hit overall. It’s not going to cost LSU $600K.
quote:

$600,000 is just the starting point. -$300,000 to Ole Miss -$300,000 from LSU NIL pool next year Then the salary for the player….

You’re double-counting the buyout. If they were to sign him for $1.7M and pay a $300K buyout, that just means they are spending $2M total and all $2M counts toward the revenue sharing cap, even though the player is only getting $1.7M directly. It’s not $2.3M.

Maybe that was Indiana’s strategy last few cycles, but it’s different this cycle. They have some significant commitments from starters from B1G, Big 12 & ACC.

They’re still targeting starters rather than 4/5 stars out of high school who are still developing. They just have more money to spend this cycle, so they’re getting higher level starters.

Why does 247 have him committed to NC in the portal?

He committed to them early in the portal window then decided to re-open his search when he saw all the crazy money being thrown around for OL.

Moscona asked Clark specifically this and he said he knew they would be bringing in another guy to compete, that they needed to complete the room. And he loved it and was ready to compete

Yeah, he knew they would need a 3rd QB, but not necessarily a 5-star recruit with 4 years of eligibility. It sounds like they were upfront about the possibility of both Leavitt and Longstreet signing, so that’s good. Clark absolutely has a lot of confidence in his ability, so I can see him not shying away from the competition.
I only hope they were honest with Landen Clark about this possibility before signing him. If he was okay with the competition and knew it was a possibility, then great. I would feel bad for him if he was misled. This is undoubtedly great for LSU in the short-term either way.

Supposedly soneone asked AI (grok) who is visiting and the text following said Seaton. But it could be anybody

Someone used grok a few days ago to claim a paywalled article by Shea Dixon said Leavitt was signing with Miami. It appears using grok to summarize paywalled articles isn’t very reliable.

Yea not sure I believe these new guys

This guy in particular was wrong about Leavitt, I believe.

Staff still wants Longstreet in.. we will see if he comes along for the ride.

Hopefully they let Clark know that was a possibility if they are planning to do that. It would be pretty crappy to bring him in with the expectation he would be QB2 behind a guy likely to be one-and-done, only to bring in a 5-star with 4 years of eligibility left.

Let me give you luddites a tip. If an article is linked in a post, you can use grok to bypass a paywall to summarize it.

AI proving its trustworthiness as a source yet again.

Shae Dixon's latest twitter update

What exactly did he say? I guess it’s behind a paywall because I don’t see anything publicly available.
quote:

Pretty sure we are out on Leavitt. He's going to Miami.

Other than catastrophe syndrome, what basis do you have for this opinion. It’s a good sign that his trip was short and he left without signing. That doesn’t mean LSU has the upper hand but I wouldn’t at all say Miami does.

toward the total NIL cap next year. I assume Texas Tech is paying it. LSU was not. Then his agent leaked the bargaining agreement to Dellinger.

The point is that Sorsby left Texas Tech without signing and then visited LSU, but ultimately still signed with Texas Tech. Leavitt leaving LSU without signing and visiting Miami isn’t proof he won’t ultimately sign with LSU.
