Question for the wise ones of MSB?

This weekend provided 3 very entertaining games and 1 complete blowout- some very good performances and some not so good.
End of Bears/Rams in OT next score wins, Rams pick up a first down at the 27 yard line so about a 45 yards FG, surely McVay kicks it and wins the game.
NO, he runs it up the middle for 3 yards, OK no fumble lets kick it now and get hell outta here. Nope McVay decided to throw 2 low % passes, that were incomplete.
Now my question? What the hell was he doing?did he forget next score wins? Was he padding stats for Stafford? Was he wanting to win by more than 3?
Couldn’t believe he had victory in grasp and decided to put the ball at risk 3 more times.

All of the great football minds that are smarter than youngest SB winning coach in NFL, Sean McVay

Trusted Stafford to not throw a pick/take a sack more than he did his kicker to not miss the FG

A 42 yard FG in those conditions is far from a gimme, he was hoping to end it on a low risk deep shot

He had one on one coverage both times and trusted his guys. I didn't have a problem with it, he's proven he's a genius, but I would have been nervous as hell if I was a Rams fan.
I prefer the non conservative coaches but I for sure would have preferred three runs right there if it was my team.

Low risk until he turns it over, kick the FG and be done with it, extending the game was terrible decision.
Did he not just see the Bears do stupid shite to turn it over?

The second year risk taking Caleb Williams is not on the trust level of the salty veteran Matthew Stafford.
McVay trusted Stafford.
