STERLINGTON, La. (KTVE/KARD) — In a social media post, Sterlington PD announced they will be giving citations for non-4×4 vehicles stuck from traveling.

quote:

If we find you stuck in a non 4×4 vehicle and you’re blocking traffic we are issuing citations. It has gotten past the point of ridiculous. We have told everyone countless times to stay home unless you have a 4×4 and it isn’t doing any good. Emergency Services and Entergy Linemen can’t help people if we can’t get down our highways.

I doubt the 4×4 drivers are any better on the ice down there.

Based on my experience in mountain backcountry in snow up to my arse, the ideal snow/ice vehicle appears to be a rusted out Nissan hardbody 4 banger with 4 bald tires and a driver who doesnt GAF.

In one ICE rides you, in another you ride on the ice.

Not a lot of Subarus in Sterlington. More like lifted F250s.

Once you got some momentum, keep your foot in it, and slide around the turns.

And having done it i can confirm lifted F250's are not the best choice for navigating sloppy winter shite roads.

Lived in Pennsylvania with 2004 2.3L 2WD Ranger with a 5-speed manual, swapped to snow tires during the winters and never had a problem. Lot more Jeeps and Subarus in ditches than anything else, 4x4/AWD gives drivers a false sense of security. Nothing helps on ice unless you have studs.

An affirmative defense to the prosecution.
