show in development with Glen Powell producing and JT Mollner directing. Could be interesting, A24 is probably the top studio in the industry at the moment

This is one of the IPs that should have remained a one off
The original sequel going horror-comedy was fine, since it was a completely different genre.
Nothing else of any quality has come since, and TCM is the best and greatest horror movie of all time, IMHO.

Agreed. Horror is certainly not my genre as I pretty much only like the classics, but TCM is my favorite. Only other TCM I watched was the Jessica Biel one, never even watched the sequel. But the OG is so well done, perfect ending, and there's just something extremely creepy and realistic about wondering upon a crazy backwoods family like that.
Hopefully Glenn Powell is is just producing and not acting.

They’re going to retcon the frick out of it.
Why does every fricking horror film now have to be retconned? It’s cringe and bullshite.

I enjoyed the Jessica Biel TCM.

The original is a perfect movie and the greatest horror movie ever made in the history of cinema. So much so that it was a favorite of Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, and Ridley Scott who upon taking the Alien job watched the movie and said “I want to make that movie in outer space” and changed the direction to accentuate the horror moreso than the Sci/fi.
As far as the sequels TCM2 is a favorite, and Next Generation is a guilty pleasure because it’s such a WTF movie. McConaughey is going all out with the crazy and carries that movie.

how much more can they possibly expand on this IP? every remake is essentially the same as the original, just with increasingly higher production value and more famous actors.
no remake will ever be as good as the original, and no remake will ever include someone so perfect as peak Jessica Biel at the height (depth?) of low-rise jean fashion. so let's just move on as a society.

from the director himself:
“I’ve said publicly that I’m not interested in remaking perfect films, and the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a perfect film,” Mollner said in a statement. I have so much reverence for [director and co-writer] Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel because they created something bold, transgressive, and truly seminal that holds up even today as the gold standard for horror. When the idea for a long form exploration into this world came to me, I saw it as a fresh way in, as well to honor and build on the existing folklore. It’s the only way I wanted to do it — and I can’t imagine better partners for this concept than A24. This is truly an honor.”

The one thing that really freaked me out about the film was at the end. I believe right before the credits it said something like "the people who were still alive are serving life sentences in a Texas prison. Before the internet for the longest time I thought it was all true.
