the first computer rankings of the year come out this week for men's tennis. The rankings that will be used for the rest of the year.

LSU will be VERY high in them. Likely the highest of any SEC team (unless Texas beats Ohio State in the national indoor final tonight).

The Tigers are 9-1 with wins over top 20 teams Clemson, Pepperdine, Arizona, Texas A&M and UCF. Only loss is to top 5 TCU.

SEC play starts already this coming weekend. I will post how the SEC shapes up in these rankings when they are released either tomorrow or Thursday

Who cares? It's tennis.

The guy has 10 players on the roster and 9 of them are from a foreign country.

Does Governor Landry know about this? Whatever happened to America First?

There have to be kids from Louisiana, Texas, California or whatever that Louisiana's flagship university can give scholarships to, instead of some rich kids from France, Poland, Romania, etc.

Or just be better at the sport. The great thing about a sport like tennis is that each individual is on an island, so when you get recruited, the rankings are what they are. You’re either better than the French guy or the Polish guy, or you’re not

It’s a far more objective hierarchy than most other sports for recruiting purposes

This seems like the right way to look at it.

You’re gonna be the absolute worst team in the SEC if you rely on Louisiana for tennis recruits

#5 in mens. Would’ve been #3 but Texas had to go and upset Ohio State in the ita indoors final.

10 Mississippi State
15 Florida
16 Texas A&M
18 Oklahoma
29 Arkansas
30 Auburn
32 Ole Miss

53 Kentucky
68 Tennessee
Unranked Alabama

We have an LSU Tennis alum WINNING at the highest level, and you're butthurt that they aren't from the US? What a beta loser. Who the frick cares whether Landry knows about this? Please exile yourself from this whole fanbase.

Yeah it’s just a different world in college tennis. Lots of teams have international players. Texas and Miss State are also mainly international.

Mens and Womens tennis might be the best deal going right now. Both are very good and attendance is free! Would love to see a crowd. Its a lot of fun.

Do narcissists like you have to show up in every thread like you're god and we're waiting on your infantile opinion? We (me and many others) could care less what you think. If I personally knew you we'd have a talk.

Yep. I tell people this all the time. If you've never been check it out. It's not the stuffy atmosphere of pro tennis. The players get fiery and you can get into it as the crowd. Six matches going on at once during singles so there's constant action

Breaux bridge alone could field a team.

European Junior Tennis really stepped up big in the past couple of decades. Their training is superior. It seems there is only 1 or 2 Americans per college tennis teams at all college levels. It is very difficult to earn a spot on an American College tennis team unless your UTR is stratospheric. I've had a long concern that this pushed great American athletes away from playing tennis due to the very large number of foreign tennis players in college tennis and resultant decline in scholarship offers to Americans. Not to mention college tennis for the men has lost upteen programs since the dawn of title IX ( Title IX was needed but maybe they could have carved football out of it since it was the major money maker and floater of all programs).. It takes years of development to become this good.in tennis. Not sure of a great answer to this: limit # foreign players per team? I don't think the USTA National Office has a great plan either. I am not surprised that the US has not won a major in 23 years. When you grew up in the 60,70.80,90's the US was well represented in the grand slams. Not so much anymore. Here's hoping Ben Shelton or Taylor Fritz or some uppencomer can get the job done. Here's hoping that American junior tennis can breed some truly big timers in the game.

BTW, go watch LSU tennis or any of the top 50 DI schools and watch the great level of play. The foreigners certaily can bring it. The atomosphere is electric and watch the speed and skill of the college players. Their are top notch. Just wish more Americans were in the mix.

Men's tennis at Georgia today

Per LSUSports.net, men's tennis has not won at Georgia since 1999.

What a troll. Also, the answer is yes. The head Coach, Danny Bryan (an LSU Alum and All-American) comes from a family deeply rooted in LA Tennis. Danny’s father, Bill, played tennis at ULL and is in the ULL Athletic Hall of Fame. He also is a teaching pro in Lafayette and is a frequent guest of the governor due to giving his son tennis lessons.
