We all saw this coming. Huge difference between states and taxes. He can take way less and make more. And if Cali stops getting the top sports talent over time -then their teams start doing bad and draw less fans. Will be interesting to watch this unfold over the future years.

What team? I doubt anyone is turning down 40mil to play with the dodgers

And you dont have to claim residency in CA
And players are taxed in each state they play in and contracts are paid out during the season

So this article is kinda stupid. And i know all this cause my business partner is best friends with Adrian Gonzalez brother Edgar

They’ll just quietly make a law that exempts sports players from high taxes.

The Dodgers defer their contracts so their players can avoid this. They won’t be state residents required to pay taxes when the bulk of their contracts are owed.

You sound upset. The article isnt stupid just because you in your fantasy land of being a MLB player you would take less money to paly for Dodgers.

Well people are different. If its 5 million dollar difference between the states most will take the money

You really don’t understand the tax code of California by this statement.

I was under the impression Ohtani did some sort of deferred contract that would save him millions with the dodgers. Apologies if it was another player and team.

California has a special rule tied to days of service. So if you make 100mm, but only 50mm was generated in California, they take your 100mm as your income.

Ask Sam Darnold how much he made for the Super Bowl. Spoiler alert, he owed money because of California’s jock tax.

And….

And….

And….

That’s all I see in your post as you try to justify the communist thieves that have turned your state into shite. There’s no justifying that to any person who thinks rationally
