Finally stopped kicking the can down the road on aging vet contracts.

Let them test the market. But this team needs to get younger at the starting positions.

I'd like both back if the deal is very cap friendly. But let's not kid ourselves. This teams ceiling is winning the division, not the superbowl.

It’s not over and it’s not a good thing if they do leave

Overthecap already has their number projected for if they leave, and we are less than a million away from cap compliance even with the expiring deals and Olave not extended.

While I do want Jordan and Davis back, it is not a big deal if they go cap wise.

It helps cap wise though and everyone is acting like they’re gone already when it’s just not true. Schefter didn’t say anything in that tweet we didn’t already know

If they go into the new league year without a deal, that is different

Of course it helps (this year) cap wise, but it isn't needed to clear space as we can still have easily over $60 mil in space with them expiring.

I never said it was needed. What I said is that people are wrong thinking they’re already gone

If we don’t sign them Monday or Tuesday, I don’t expect them back because then we don’t get the benefit

How the frick do you know that? The Patriots went 4-13 with a promising rookie quarterback and made it to the Super Bowl in his year 2. Shough showed enough to think he might be the real deal.

We just restructured Justin Reid and chase young today. Might be that

I saw Young was restructured and plugged that in through their cap calculator. He alone got us to only less than a million over. And now I see Reid is done as well so we are compliant with some actual space to boot.

Edit:
Should be at $5.6 mil in space now, which is enough to sign our rookie class (if OTC isn't already counting that as well; I'll have to check that). Any further moves made are to make room to sign FAs now.

I agree that if they are not extended they are more than likely gone, unless Cam can't find a deal and comes back for next to nothing vs what we have offered him already.

Yeah and I’m pretty sure both of them will know during the tampering period if the offers to leave are good enough. We should know soon at least

It's a good thing if they want too much right?

Sure but I don’t think they want too much, just fair. DD has famously taken team friendly deals the whole time he’s been with us

I don’t see DD or cam getting over 12 by anyone but we’ll see

The problem with Davis that has been assumed is he may be able to get a 3 year deal somewhere, which is going to include a decent chunk of guaranteed money.

We aren't going to match that if that's the case.

Cam is much more likely to return since he will likely only fetch 1 year offers, which we can match unless someone overpays.

I think you’re right about the guaranteed money with DD. I could see us doing 2 years with a portion gtd but not beyond that

doesn't make any sense to pay those two more at this stage of their careers

if they can get a better deal on the market then they should do that
it's not a good business move for the Saints to overpay those two guys
