TrekMovie.com: For The First Time In Over A Decade, No Star Trek TV Is In Production Or Greenlit
quote:

With filming completed on the second season of Starfleet Academy last week, production has been completed on everything that has been announced for Star Trek TV. The first season finale of Starfleet Academy arrives on Paramount+ next week, on March 12th, and there is more Star Trek TV currently in post-production. The fourth season of Strange New Worlds wrapped up production last summer and is expected to arrive sometime later this year. The fifth and final season finished filming last December, and is expected in 2027.

As of now, all the Star Trek series that have been launched before this year on CBS All Access/Paramount+ have officially been cancelled or were short-term shows (like Short Treks). The future of the animated webseries Very Short Treks and Star Trek: Scouts has not been determined, but neither is expected to get more episodes. And there are no indications that there are any shows or seasons of any Star Trek TV that have been given a green light, but not yet announced.
quote:

The one project we’ve heard about is a live-action Star Trek workplace comedy starring Lower Decks voice actress and Starfleet Academy writer Tawny Newsome, which she developed with writer/director Justin Simien. In January, Newsome told TrekMovie she and Simien had completed their work on the pitch and were awaiting word on a potential series order, noting “The business is in an interesting place right now… Who knows?”

There have also been several series pitches for new Star Trek series that have been revealed in the last few years. This includes a Strange New Worlds spin-off called Star Trek: Year One from SNW showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers. There is Star Trek: United, a post-Enterprise series featuring Jonathan Archer as president of the Federation, developed by star Scott Bakula and writer/producer Mike Sussman. Picard showrunner Terry Matalas wants to pick up the story of Captain Seven and the USS Enterprise-G in what he calls Star Trek: Legacy, and Prodigy co-executive producer Aaron Waltke has a pitch for a new anthology-style animated Trek series. All of those those are just the pitches that have been publicly discussed; there could be more.

The first in a decade milestone here might be a bit of an overblow. Also, doesn't everyone here hate most of the current Trek stuff?

That's more than enough crap to last another decade.

But that's the only reason for this 'milestone.' Their latest abortion is complete. They'll soon launch another, whether it's a third season of SA garbage or some other garbage.

I thought Discovery was fantastic. Not a fan of Strange New Worlds. I like Starfleet Academy thus far. Has some potential.

The related question is whether a tree makes a sound if it falls in the forest when no one is there to hear

The decline is real and the fan fiction is better than anything current management touches

Honestly, I am a superficial fan at best by only seeing the the original series and the first four movies.

Star Trek has been done to death. Let it die and bring it back in twenty or so years.

Get kurtsman out, maybe even give it to Terry Matalas and you’ll fix a lot of problems.

What about the Year One spinoff of SNW?
I really want the Scott zbakula show.

That said. That last episode of Academy was directed by Jonathan Frakes and was the best episode so far. Still a dumb show but was an interesting episode.

You think so? Maybe the hate I have for Academy or the fact that I was hate watching swayed my opinion. I think the first episode started off decent enough but this show has somehow managed to get worse every week.

here’s what I don’t understand

TOS and next generation had the same basic concept. A ship and a crew explore the galaxy and boldly go where no man has gone before.

Just do that
