Going for 10 day at the end of May. Looking at renting a vehicle. I am aware of the driving conditions, insurance concerns etc. I am considering Newway rental or myirishsousin. Anybody here deal with either of these and was it a no hassle deal?

I'm not familiar with either of those but I have used both Enterprise and Sixt in Europe several times and have been very pleased. For Ireland in particular I used Enterprise and it was great. Just get an automatic transmission!

I've used Europcar both times. No issues. Never heard of the other two, but I haven't been to IE in over a decade.

New way was pretty easy and had a decent policy and automatics what i liked best was insurance was included not an add on.
. Driving was pretty easy after you get used to it. The hardest part was the traffic circles around the Dublin Airport. Oh and coming up on a full size tractor trailer coming at your on a one lane road in the dark and the rain was pretty rough. I wouldn't drive the country roads that late again. I was staying in Galway but decided to day trip to Cliffs of Moher.
Of all Ireland my favorite spot was Dingle.

Dingle is awesome. If you have time, take the Harbor Cruise

We had several good meals in Dingle, I believe one was at James Long pub right at the marina.

Get takeaway from the Fish Box, get a pint next door at Dick Mack's pub and grab a spot on the picnic tables out back. Great experience and people watching. Strike up a convo with some Irish people, they love it

Since you will have a car, you must drive the Slea Head Drive. It leaves from Dingle and circles the peninsula. Several great stops along the way, including Dunmore Head. Park and walk up the hill to the edge, if there are sheep grazing its even more magical. On a sunny day the blue ocean water against the green hills is a sight to behold.

I'll be there about the same time, I have not been liking what I see on social media about the protests, blocked roads, no fuel at pumps, etc. Hopefully that is blown out of proportion or it gets cleared up before then

SIXT, Europcar or Enterprise.

I take pics all around the vehicle before driving it.

I get the comprehensive insurance coverage, it’s not nearly as expensive as it is in the US.

I only ever get a vehicle with an Automatic Transmission.

Kilmainham Gaol & Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin

Clonmacnoise Abbey & the Rock of Cashel.

I liked the waterfront town of Kinsale south of Cobh.

I went out to Skellig Michael & crawled all over it, if you’re fit and not afraid of heights, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Enjoy, I love Ireland.

20 or so years ago. Landed in Dublin. Picked up a rental car. Stick shift on the left. Hit my first curb pulling out of the rental car lot. Drove straight to Northern Ireland. Got the hang of the arse backwardness of it all some point en route.

Yeah, the gearshift would be in the wrong hand.

Understandable why you had a problem.

I’m fine with driving on the wrong side of the vehicle on the wrong side of the road, just not shifting gears with the wrong hand.

The two together are like a rubbing your belly while patting your head kinda deal until you sort of acclimate yourself to it all.

Plus, as a righty, you suddenly get to feel like it must for leftys who have to drive sticks here.

Shannon airport, the cars I rented had an arrow reflected up to the windshield and a message that said, "drive on the left." And the first traffic circle I had to take going to the wrong direction was still on airport property.

Acclimation - under 2m.
