It’s a long article from Cato. Lots of things the mouth breathers will hate: graphs and data, cited sources, etc.

LINK

Conclusion:

quote:

Based on the available facts, “Liberation Day” did not herald the era of economic prosperity that the president promised. Taxes, prices, uncertainty, and bureaucracy climbed, while US manufacturing, FDI, and the trade balance stood still. Exemptions proliferated; lobbying skyrocketed; and most Americans were worse off. There’s still much we don’t know about US tariff policy going forward, but there’s certainly one thing we do: While the “reciprocal tariffs” may be dead, the administration’s protectionism will—barring congressional intervention—unfortunately persist.

So essentially, the same short sightedness that brought us to the present circumstance is still in vogue in certain "libertarian" circles. Thanks! It wasn't clear to us that the elites still have something at stake here and that they will do anything to preserve the current order.

Im a libertarian who supports Trump and I’m quite embarrassed that every election libertarian Facebook groups post memes that draw in the unintelligent voters who have no idea what the libertarian platform is instead of growing the party to be respected and gain seats that aren’t taken by RINOibertatians who know they won’t be elected under the party tag.

undermined long-term business planning and investment in the United States

After the tariffs, there was a record level of investment announced. For long-term projects. Companies did not decide to invest trillions in the US on a whim, it was because of Trump's directive and the shift to protectionist policy.

This is a bad faith article
