Something fishy in St. Bernard…

The talk of “the” parish Facebook has been HB 465, authored by state rep Brian Glorioso (R-Slidell, not St. Bernard), that would create the Violet Development District, a new political entity in down the road St. Bernard Parish, that would facilitate the construction of the new Louisiana International Terminal, known as LIT.
The map of the proposed district was released this week at a town hall meeting hosted by our state representative Mike Bayham (R-Chalmette). People are worried that the new Violet district would have carte blanche to do whatever they need to do and their houses, local elementary school, and town are in jeopardy.
The map of the proposed district has some fishy zigzags… on one side of Judge Perez in Meraux, the district stops at Legend Drive ( home of NBA star Mitchell Robinson while he attended CHS), but on the other side, it goes three blocks further, missing Landry Court (home street of sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann).
Further down the road, the district follows the Mississippi River until it mysteriously stops at the Saro Lane farm of Sidney Torres III ( IV’s father). After that it follows the river again until the St. Bernard/Plaquemines Parish line. But why? Guess we’ll find out. My estimate is about 7,000 people live in that district, about 18% of St. Bernard Parish’s population

Looks like it follows the 70092 zip code boundaries until it gets to bottom left and then takes in some of 70085.
