Now the golf channel chimes in on shallowing

Seems unless you have the greatest hands in the world like Jack and Scottie - shallowing is the way to get a consistent ball strike but they disagree

I typically avoid the golf channel unfortunately because of Brandel. Turned it on last night because it's Masters week and for the 5 minutes I had it on it was Brandel basically talking the entire time about all the flaws in Brysons game. I don't get how this guy has a job, much less be the guy they put in front of the camera all the time.

He doesn’t understand what shallowing is. Scottie is shallowing in his swing. The COM moves behind the hands and the club shallows.

Shallowing the club on the downswing is one of the dumbest things they've ever come up with. It leads to blocks and nasty hooks because your hips don't rotate, they slide. Here's a novel idea, keep the club on plane during the backswing and the down swing.

If there was one way to hit a golf ball all the swings up and down the range would look the same. That being said, most recreational golfers do not realize how pro golfers are more athletic and can compensate so much better than an average Joe. So the positions and moves you get taught at your golf lesson are within parameters that most people can manage.
As far as shallowing, it’s not something I think about. I just feel like the club drops down from the top and in front of me and I turn it through.
Also the BS about closing the face is old information. It is better to be slightly shut at top and square the face with a small lateral move and shaft lean. Way more consistent and repeatable.

If Brandel was paid for what he thinks he knows, he’d be a billionaire. If he was paid for what he actually knows, he’d be broke. He’s insufferable!! He always has to have the last or loudest say. He had ONE pga win and talks like he’s the authority on golf.

I will agree he is articulate. But completely disagree that he is compelling. I guess he is compelling in the same way a politician is compelling, because he only has one note. He's on a channel that an analyst should have an open mind and and no be completely biased towards certain things and bring them into literally everything he says.
Brandel with LIV/LIV players is like Trump was with China during the election.
He will literally make up things to create a narrative or be critical with people. Like I mentioned with him breaking down Brysons swing and Bryson putting emphasis on being shallow in your swing. Bryson says that so no matter what Brandel was going to say the complete opposite. Ranted about Jack, Tiger, and Scottie not having shallow swings. Later that day on instagram I see a guy breaking down all three of their swings and swing plane showing how they are shallow
I mean we're talking about the guy who argued with David Duval on how you win a major. A guy with one career win telling David Duval how to win tournaments. Even on the rare occasion when for two seconds he's not talking about LIV or sucking Rory off, he's saying something ridiculous or annoying.
I know whether I agree with his opinions or not doesn't determine his job status. But what should determine it is if they are good at their job or not. When you compare Brandel to virtually everybody else covering golf, he's near the bottom. And the majority agree with that. Whether you are good or not at your job should determine it and most agree he is not very good at it.

quote:His definition of shallow is probably different than Instagram’s. Maybe he’s referring to hands, not shaft.

quote:His job is to be a golf analyst. He’s an elite analyst.
But what should determine it is if they are good at their job or not.
I feel weird defending him so much but I think he gets an unnecessary amount of hate for what his role is.

My 9 year old naturally shallows his hands. Only ever had 1 lesson. I’m starting to think there is a mailman that visited in 2016
He already broke 40 in a 9 hole tournament
ETA: yes I did this just to brag. No regrets
Eta2: he is obsessed with Arnold Palmer thru YouTube. He has mimicked his finish on purpose. Not sure if that’s a good thing but I let him have fun with it

Kids are so natural at golf.
They soak it up and have no fear.

Tell me about it
Took me so long to get shaft lean and create lag. Never trusted that feeling.
He creates lag like a son of a bitch and isn’t afraid at all to lean on a wedge

I enjoy playing with juniors because they are unafraid.
They deliver the club so efficiently.
Play a match with two girls.
My side shot 38/39. I made 2 birdies. We were dispatched.
From 50 yards in, they just stuff it.
So fun to watch.
