I searched but couldn’t find anything on this. SIAP
I was at Walmart and noticed they had a cheaper GV version of different Frigidaire models except the ULTRAWF. Not sure if there is an actual good reason for that or not, other than some agreement between the companies.
Anyway, I found some cheaper alternatives on amazon. Any concerns with any and/or recommendations? TIA

If you have a water well, or your city water supply can't be trusted, then by all means get a new filter. However, if your city water tastes good and can be trusted, then you don't need a filter. Get a filter bypass directly from Frigidaire and you'll never have to replace a filter.

That's an approach I didn't know about, I'll look into. Thanks. The water tastes ok I guess. But it is noticeable compared to water I drink all day at water from the water cooler.
I drink a lot of water. Even with meals.

Not that it can't be trusted, but most municipal water supplies have a strong chemical taste from the purification processes.
Once you realize that taste is there and filtered water doesn't have it, it is hard to go back.
I can't stand drinking tap water after having a filter in my fridge for the last 20+ years.

Fortunately, the water supplied by the Baton Rouge Water Company tastes just like bottled water. A water filter is overkill in our area.

I have to shop around every time they need replaced.
Usually, I can find a deal on a 4-pack somewhere.
I can remember using RedStagSupplies before and always check there, but I go down a rabbit hole looking,

this is the filter I use for my 11 y/o refrigerator. I have been replacing the filter every (6) months or so. I never have a problem finding the OEM replacement. I normally purchase them off Ebay
