Glen Davis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tasmin

(Tas isn't big enough to bang with the big boys like Big Baby was)

TYRUS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Chris Johnson

Tyrus was the main reason we went to the final 4 IMO.

Taz>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Temple

Taz is much better in this position than Garret is.

D Mitch<<<<<<Marcus Thornton.

ALthough, D mitch was clutch in the tourney. Can MT do the same?

Temple<<<<<<<Bo Spencer

Bo is clearly a better PG.

However, the 06 team had a much better/experienced bench. Sure the 09 team is better at the guards, but the big men is where it counts and we just don't have the size to compete with the big boys. Overall, a round 2 appearance is a huge accomplishment for this team, IMO.

Taz is handling his business in the pain this year.

I'm not gonna say he was better than Baby down low. But you're discrediting Tasmin down low, and that's been one of his strongest points this year.

He is, don't get me wrong. But this was a comparison to the 06 team, which makes this team look like midgets.

We are one big man away from being serious final 4 contenders this year.

The MT vs DM discussion cannot be made until the end of the season. DM came in clutch in the tourney in 06 and that's what made him so great in most's eyes. If MT cant perform in the tourney, how is scoring 20 ppg important? Making it to the tourney is important but not as important as how you play at the tourney.

Side Note: GT (06) made JJ Reddick look like a little sissy girl!

I think that was the best game lazare had played.

Taz is handling his business. Big Baby was SEC Player of the Year. That's way more than a "slight" difference.

And Tyrus is clearly at least "much better" than Chris Johnson has been this year.

But you're not even comparing the right positions. The comparisons should be Johnson to Davis and Taz to Tyrus. '06 still wins each by a "much better" margin, imo.

D Mitch could finish a game. I'm not sure if Thornton can take over a game in the final minutes. That was what took us to the final four. Maybe he can but i guess we will see come tournament time

06 team was MUCH better than this team, for all the reasons stated above, but what this team has is heart and a GREAT coach, unlike the 06 team. It's not going to be enough to get them to the final 4, however.

Wouldn't it be easier to just compare Temple and Tasmin to their 2006 versions and go from there?

true but he not that much weaker and if he has to he can shoot the 3, which makes up most of the difference, and he knows how to flop and take a charge (CJ could learn something)

true to a degree, but CJ blocks shots when they count also and can shoot( need to line drive the short shots ones "big slim") better than TT., also GT and MT are smart with the help down low when it counts.

"ALthough, D mitch was clutch in the tourney. Can MT do the same?"

MT isn't fading in tourny, he's driven, and he gets the big rebounds, GT want let him, also GT does whatever it takes and will continue.

Yeah BS is better at point guard than GT (06), the guard play 09 is better, the 3 position TM (06)vs GT(09), GT grabs rebounds and starts breaks for easy points , making up for some difference TM had.

If they do whats above they are better, but it's up to Trent J and G.Temple and Taz Mitchell to shore up confidence IMO

Magnum AND Darnell played awesome against Duke. Baby and Tyrus were both in foul trouble for the whole 1st half.
