After dinner drinks for a couple in NOLA

alright I have a room booked for Saturday night at the Monteleone, I have dinner reservations for Lilette on Magazine for 9pm, so where do I take my wife for drinks after dinner?
I am not interested in Bourbon St, I am too old for most of the uptown bars so where do you suggest we go? Last time we had a night like this we went to the piano bar upstairs at the Ritz-Carlton so we could do that again. But I would like to go some place different

4 places:
1.) Carousel Bar in your hotel.
2.) Columns Hotel (since you will be Uptown anyway)
3.) Polo Lounge in the Windsor Court
4.) Mimi's in the Marigny

Collette's is a good place for business time as well.

If I'm gonna continue being your concierge, I'll throw out the Bombay Club as my suggestion.

not familiar with the bombay club
and if you are ever in Lafayette I will gladly be your concierge

good spot for martinis...
I can't wait to start suggesting the Sazerac again...
If it opens this summer like they said, you will find me at the bar in my seersucker suit after work sipping a sazerac.

Food is just okay...honestly, the place was much better prior to them adding on a dining room.
Swizzle Stick should be thrown out there as well.

polo lounge is out for after dinner, closes at 1AM
looked up the Bombay Club, closes at 1:30AM so we may not make it there either
so we may go to the Polo Lounge or the Bombay Club for before dinner drinks and hit the Carousel after dinner since it is in our hotel and it closes around 2AM
thanks for your help guys
and Collette's is a "no go for launch"

French 75 (part of Arnauds). It's a very cool, quiet cigar bar, and they mix a seriouis sazerac.
I also second the Polo Lounge and the Ritz bar suggestions.
I think the carousel bar is the most overrated place in the city. Very touristy. There's always some jerkoff decked out in UGA gear screaming for the piano player to play some David Allen Coe.
Bombay Club is cool for a quick Belvedere on the rocks while listening to Luther Kent, but it can get really crowded.

Bombay Club is great. Awesome martinis, cool laid back atmosphere, and only locals know about it. It's just off Bourbon on Conti. Sounds like the crowd you're looking for, but you can't not stop into the Carousel Bar.

agree with the columns
Might want to check out Lafittes Blacksmith Shoppe on the end of bourbon for drinks and a less rouchous piano bar than pat o's. (on a side note-does anyone know if Johnny Gordon is still alive?)

If Pat O's is one of your options for a few after dinner cocktails with your wife, then you're a lost cause.
And the problem with Lafittes Blacksmith Shop is that they have a shitty drink selction. They don't carry much in the way of premium liquor.
It's another over-rated place in the FQ. People assume it's cool because it's dark.

i like the bar at the pelican club

Lafitte's and Johhny White's are my designated Bourbon Street stops because I like to smoke a cigar when i am out and I don't like crowded places where people will give me shite. Lafitte's makes Jack and a Splash of water so that is all I need
this evening is shaping up nicely
check in around 5pm
get cleaned up head out around 6:30
probably go to the Polo Lounge or the Bombay Club for pre-dinner drinks
then over to Lilette's on Magazine at 9pm for a leisurely dinner
then stop by Sucre on Magazine for some French chocolate to bring home
then depending on how we feel, the columns or the carousel bar for after dinner drinks and a cigar
probably get up a little late on sunday, check out the antique and curio shops down royal for a bit, head over to Court of Two Sisters or maybe Mespero's for brunch, then head back home
sounds like a plan

FYI - You can't smoke cigars in the carousel bar.
