I'm making a bloody mary bar for tailgating this weekend. Anybody have any interesting suggestions as far as garnishes go.

Pickled green beans are good. Add horseradish to your mix.

On top of your basic celery, beans, and olives, I would have extra horeradish for anyone who would like to add some kick. I also like to sprinkle the top of the drink and glass with crab boil for an extra kick.

I only use Clamato juice if I'm making my own. It's not as thick as Zing Zang.

Clamato juice
Grey Goose
Celery salt (in the drink and on the rim)
lemon & pepper
worcestershire
fresh lemon juice
hot sauce / or a few drops of crab boil

garnish: celery stalk/okra/green beans/olive

Boiled shrimp, tomolives (I can eat a jar of those for a meal), Tabasco spicy olives, marinated asparagus and/or green beans, celery, pickled okra, lemons, limes, skewers to load up on the goodies...

Looks cool to have the skewers already made up with some of the smaller items,so folks can just stick them right into their drinks.

+1 Clamato!
+1 ZingZang

Vodka - Sobieski. Rated higher than Goose, Kettle One, Belvedere, Sky, etc. and 1/4 the price.

Love the idea about the boiled skrimps. Yum.

Also like pickeled okra.

Drape an anchovy over the side of the glass...that'll freak people out.

I use either zing zang or Mr. and Mrs. T Rich and Spicy, which I like a little better than zing zang. I like my mix thick, though, because the alcohol and ice water things down. Actually, I prefer a good gin bloody mary. I also like to add some horseradish to mine.

Taaka is fine for bloody mary's, you can't taste the difference anyway. Save the good vodka for when you're drinking it with a little tonic or soda.

I'll give you $1,000 if you can tell the difference in a taste test.

My experience is they all taste like nothing and smell like rubbing alcohol.

how did I know this would be the response?
I use Goose. I dont buy Taaka. Life is too short to drink cheap liquor - just my opinion.

and I do know that the last time I ordered a bloody mary and didnt specify the vodka, it tasted like shite. they used whatever the well vodka was at the bar. I couldnt even finish it.

I'm in the middle on this...IMO, use a call - not a well or a premium - for a mixed drink where the mix is anything but water, soda or tonic.

I gotta say that I am a bit disappointed to hear people from Louisiana saying that they use a mix to make a bloody mary.....

Campbell's tomato juice or V-8 all the way for me.

Put ice in cup. Add celery salt, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce (or saracha), pepper. THEN add your vodka (this helps dissolve the spices). Then add v-8. Lil' salt squeeze of LEMON and stir/mix between 2 cups.

I garnish with celery because olives or those beans make me

Garnishing with a boiled shrimp or two would be
