The worst of the bunch: Zatarains (Gretna). Where's the blech emoticon? Too much salt. I had to rinse it out to make it edible.
Cajun Fry (Pierre Part). Bland.
Oak Grove Smokehouse (Prairieville). The winner by a mile.

All you have to do is look at a map to figure out which one would be the best.. BR area of the state is best for Jambalaya and NOLA area is easily the worst. BTW Rex scared of the food board or something?

If you can't make it yourself from scratch this is def the way to go.

Post it, but there's a lot of attraction to open, boil, and simmer.

A true person from South Louisiana makes jambalaya from scratch only.

Tony chacherie plus (and this is important) with Double D Cajun mild sausage.

We use an excellent recipe that has been passed down from my grandfather ...And you're right tomatoes have no business in Jambalaya.

That stuff is gross. My mother in law made the zatarains red beans and rice, I had to thow it away. Not even edible.
Cajun Fry (Pierre Part). Bland.
I really like this one. Of course anything in a bag or box I doctor up
Oak Grove Smokehouse (Prairieville). The winner by a mile.
Will have to try again

absolutely. Oak Grove is the only good one i have found.
Zats and Tony's are awful. You must get 7 days worth of sodium intake in those shitty boxes.

I've probably tried at least 20 or so home made jambalayas in my day as well as a dozen or so at various restaurants and I think that Oak Grove is better than any I've tried.
Homemade jambalaya is usually pretty terrible in my experience. I haven't tried to make any myself yet.

You must have had some really bad experiences. Its generally a dish that is almost always better at home than in a restaurant.
