How easy is it to get general admission tickets at the gate? Or should I go ahead and buy a book?

A book is a waste. They never sell out.

This will be at least my 6th year going and I've never had a problem buying tickets at the window. As as the tourney goes along you'll find people selling tickets once their team gets eliminated. I've actually had people give me tickets a couple of times.

The tournament is extremely laid back. The crowd picks up when Alabama plays or if Ole Miss/Miss State make it to the weekend. But even then, there are plenty of seats available.

You'll have a great time. I've seen some great games there over the years, some with LSU and some with out. Should be a great tourney with the way some of the teams are playing.

You can always buy tickets at the window. I buy the book, but that is only cause I buy reserved seats behind the home dugout. If you aren't going to every game and plan on sitting in the general admission it is cheaper to buy individual game tickets rather than a book. As NGA said, you will probably find tickets from fans of other team as the weekend progresses. One good buy is the Dr Pepper six pack, I think it must be bought by the Saturday before, but they are six general admission tickets good for any session (two games). They are at discount and are a good idea if you are going with friends or are going to just the LSU games.

As for tailgating, the first two or three days it will be difficult to park near the stadium so my advice is to bring a cooler or two. They bus you in from the highschool but you can take drinks on it to the park. There is a big hill next to left field that we always leave our stuff at and go back and forth to during and between games. It should be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it.
