I know there's been a few threads on this place, but I just went for my first time- it was very good. The damn A/C was out though, so it was really warm in there (dude was fixing it as I left). Anywho, the bread was fresh, the steak was plentiful and tasty, and the fries were crisp and good. One thing would put this place over the top- a good mustard blend sauce like at Texadelphia (Texas people can back this up). The sandwich was very good but it felt as if it was missing something.

They seriouly need to pick up some of the damn weeds outside.. How hard is that? Makes the place look like its out of business already.

It's on Sherwood Forest close to Coursey (next to Wendy's). Yes, the outside could use some cosmetic upgrades. Good food though.

Really? I don't think it's even close. South of Philly has the best philly cheesesteak in Baton Rouge easily.
You might like their steak sandwich better, but i wouldnt even consider "philly me up" a real philly cheesesteak

Agreed, I'm surprised anyone would prefer Philly Me Up. I realize everyone has an opinion and a right to it though, just surprised.

I eat a lot of cheesesteaks.

I have to throw a very close vote to Philly Me Up.

I like the staff at PMU a bit more. SOP has pimped on this board in the past and they have posted negative against PMU elsewhere-typical Philly move by the way.

I also prefer provolone to cheez-whiz, so what do I know.

Me too. South of Philly tries to push that crap on people. Their building is nasty.

SOP is head and shoulders better to me. Better bread, better fries.

Cheez Whiz is what is supposed to be on a Philly.

I was in there a couple of weeks ago and the owner was there to visit with customers. He said he bought it directly from the previous establishment and planned to operate it under their name/brand/products for a week or so then switch to steaks. He said when he finally got to look around the freezers were filled with spoiled food and it was just unsanitary in general. According to him, it took 3-4 weeks to clean stuff up just so he would feel comfortable allowing customers to come in and eat.
