If LSU is considered to be the team of the decade, the teams not only won a few championships, they should been consistently good, at least in their conference. Consistently good being the operative phrase. LSU has some years where it's fan following dipped so low that the coach was let go. Attendance was mediocre by LSU standards. Such teams should not be part of the team of the decade conversation.
If you look at a purely math equation with
- number of CWS titles
- number of CWS appearances
- number of conference titles
- number of wins this decade
you may have a case.
But are you not stretching it if your team gave you heart burn (mid 2000s) instead of pleasure when you follow it?

There will be no team of this decade if LSU wins the CWS. No one was dominate enough to have that label. 4 NC's in 10 years is dominate.
LSU will still be the premier program in the country for 2 decades though which even says more about the program.
In saying all that I don't think LSU wins the NC this year. Left-handed pitchers will be our Achilles heal.

I say no with the comment that there will be no team of the decade. However, after LSU wins the CWS it will propel us back to the media favorites and give us the swagger and title expectations every year.

And they made the finals another time. I think if you have to crown a team, it's definitely Texas. And technically, 2000 was the last year of last decade, so LSU would only have 1 this decade.

I think this is debatable, because when we had the new millennium party... nobody said.. "well, the new decade technically starts next year.

LSU has not won a national title this decade. We would have to win this year and next to have two this decade.
