Anthony Ranaudo's struggles tonight were a blessing in disguise. LSU still won, and now the pitching situation couldn't be better. Coleman is set to go Monday. Ranuado could pitch Wednesday if needed, or wait for later in the week. He could have 2 more starts in Omaha. The entire staff will be ready for Monday if called on. That "Oh sh*t" you just heard was from the rest of the teams in Omaha.

Meh. If we win Monday, I want Ross pitching Friday.

How many pitches did the R-dog throw? He only went 3 1/3, but I think he threw a ton.

i actually thought the same thing. renauldo can pitch again soon. he had a bad outing and the fact that we still got the W may be a blessing in disguise.

Then he'd be out for the final series if we get there.

So people need to look at that and not the 3 1/3. He still threw a lot of pitches.

That could happen, but Mainieri has the choice of Ranaudo now if he wants him. Not to be negative, but if we lose Monday, Ranaudo will definitely be needed mid-week. But we all hope that we stay in the winner's bracket and therefore we can pitch however Mainieri wants to without having to worry about a tired arm.

Not really. 82 is a lot for 3 1/3 innings, but its not the 120-130 you'd expect from a typical Renaudo start.

Yeah, throwing 80 something pitches is still a lot. He could pitch Friday, but I don't see him pitching before then unless it is in relief.

Great point. Ranaudo has thrown upwards of 120 pitches in several of his last few starts.

Mainieri always had the choice of Ranaudo in game 3 if we're 2-0. The game isn't until Friday, 6 days away. He would be ready to go Friday no matter if he threw 130 or 82 tonight.

That being said, we need to pitch Ross on Friday. He can get us the win. Then we'll have Ranaudo and Coleman ready to go 1-2 for the finals.

Why? Ranaudo could pitch Friday, then again in game 2 of the Championship Series on 3 days rest. The way this is set up, you have to play as few games as possible to have a pitching advantage, so starting Ross could backfire if we lose and have to play again on Saturday using either Coleman or Ranaudo. This would knock whoever pitches out for the Championship Series.

Monday is a must win, just as a important as today was. Very unlikely to win this thing if we lose Monday.

Too early to know about Friday. We'll have to see what type of pitching the other teams have left at that point (assuming we beat Arky). Somebody could have their ace back to pitch next Friday if they haven't thrown him since today. I'm not sure that Ross would beat another team's #1, but we just don't know yet. There could be a 25 inning game in our bracket to kill the winner's pitching staff.
