Arm strength

Jamarcus Russel may have had the strongest arm of any quarterback to ever play at LSU. With that being said, which quarterback on the current roster has the strongest arm? That was the weak link to Hatchs' game last year. Jarret had a much stronger arm but made to many bad throws. How strong is strong enough?

Likely Lee. He has a very strong arm.

Lee and Russell both have very strong arms. The difference is that Lee could couldn't hit the broad side of a barn 10 feet away. Russell thought he always had to throw the football through a needlehead at 50 yards.

Too strong is when you throw a ball that takes the head off a reciever, or goes straight through his chest...
An arm that kills players is just too strong

JJ has a stronger arm than Lee. Lee didn't have a very strong arm which is one of the reasons y he got so many interceptions. It seemed like it took forever for the ball to get to the receiver. Flynn didn't have a strong arm either but he was able to scramble to buy himself time for a receiver to get more open and keep the defense guessing with the option.

I am not attempting to bash any of our current quarterbacks. Garret looked very strong in the spring game. Jordan J. seems to have good arm strength, and I don't recall seeing Russell Sheppard throw any long passes. Accuracy counts but so does mobility , but just observing as a fan it appears for now that JJ looks the most comfortable in the position. Russel Sheppard showed signs of brilliance and Garrett just seemed to be a lot more poised than a true freshman. The Tigers are set for the next couple of years. But of the 4 we have now, I was just wondering about pure arm strength, who was superior.

The thing is that you can have a strong arm and be a below average QB if you don't have the right touch on the ball and the common sense when to throw it.
I think having common sense and the right touch are more important than a strong arm.

Remember JR throwing the ball through the hands of running backs on those lil swing passes? He'd blow 'em up!

That's ridiculous. Lee has a very strong arm.

LSU will realize in the opener just how big the loss of hatch was.

I don't think arm strength is an issue for any of our QBs. Shep, Lee, JJ, and Garrett all seem to have adequete to impressive arm strength.
Their throwing motions are all different so pure strength is all relative. For exapmle, JJ can put some zip on the ball, put has a big windup. Lee can too, but his release is quicker. Shep's videos looked okay as far as arm strength. Havn't seen much of Garrett. They are all close to each other, so then the debate moves on to accuracy.
On a sidenote, has anyone every thought about how Hatch was able to get the starting job with his subpar arm strength? He's probably a great guy and all, but who made the call to make him the starting QB last year?

Hatch was the most ready as far as understanding the game. Sadly he couldn't provide too much of a passing offense though.

Rohan had a cannon for an arm as well.
