Somebody post some updates, preferably those who are watching. Watson has dropped 3 strokes already today...

nice effort by Ben Curtis today, going from the lead to missed cut.

Watson unfortunately is struggling so for +4 through 8

What did he shoot? What will the probable cut line be?

he shot 80, right now the cut is +3, I think it will go to +4

Damn. What's the weather looking like? I heard it's gotten pretty bad. I love that shite.

Toms is toast. Calcavecchia is holding his own. It's ruff out there today. USA in the top 3, Marino, Calc, and Cink. -5,-4,-4.

It's really windy, 18 mph steady. Looks like some dark clouds are rolling in too.

Dark Clouds rolling in and the rain is starting. Now its actually starting to look like a an Open Championship. Good to see the gallery with Umbrellas.
Watson is -2 now playing the 10th hole.
Curtis wasn't the only one to go "high" today. Mahan, GEoff Ogilvy, Poulter all shot 79

But he birdied 9. He's still at -2, which is very good. They said the back 9 is playing downwind, so if he can play that even par, he's still in really good shape.
Tiger is putting the ball extremely well today(his speed is great), he just hasn't given himself any realistic birdie chances. I think he'll go 68/69 today and be right back in it.

This change in the weather makes day one's score so much more important.

I hope so. I don't care if he wins or not, but it's so much more fun when he's in contention on Sunday.

Me too. I want him to win, but care more about him just being in contention. It's frustrating when he puts himself in such a hole on Thursday and Friday and has to go off so much earlier than the leaders on the weekend. Which is what he's been doing lately.

finally the true open weather has arrived, hopefully it will stay the rest of the weekend, it's what makes it my favorite tourny of the year. That and the fact I can watch live sports at 5am on Sat and Sun

It's probably my favorite too. I like it and the U.S. Open significantly more than the Masters. Big numbers being in play is just more dramatic than everybody flag-hunting.
Watson and Woods with birdies. Watson now -3, Tiger finally back to even. If Tiger can birdie the par 5 17th, find 1 more birdie somewhere else and par out, he'll probably be top 10 by the end of the day.

Calc leaves his birdie putt an inch short on 17 and taps in for par. -4 going into the last hole.
Tiger birdies 7 and is back to Even.

Retief Goosen quietly in the clubhouse at -3. Sitting very nicely.

Tiger gives his stroke right back to go back to +1. Looks like he's going to give at least another one back on this hole, too.
Posted on 7/17/09 at 10:41 am to Hot Carl
Tiger may never win another major.

Good point. And Watson's bounced back and is back in the hunt.
Tiger is pissed and is about to make another bogey.
