I have been a Miles supporter until the past two games. The Louisiana Tech game did not cause me to jump off the bandwagon, but I became very concerned about Miles' ability to prepare, motivate, and make adjustments. The meltdown in the final minute against Ole Miss provided irrefutable evidence that Miles has become a liability due to a loss of interest in being a good head coach or, maybe, a lack of ability to be a good head coach.

But what puzzles me at this point are the few LSU fans now labeling those of us who have supported Miles until the Ole Miss debacle as "fair weather" fans. I am not a fair weather fan. I grew up a die hard supporter of LSU and spent 7 years of my life at LSU getting 3 degrees. No one loves LSU and LSU football more than I do.

The point is this. Since when does caring about your university and, in turn, the well-being of its football program make one a fair weather fan? It is easy to say, forget about it, it was just one game. However, that is not reality. LSU football is more than just a set of games each fall. LSU football embodies the best of Louisiana - our love of family, tradition, food, culture, passion, socializing, and the desire to excel. Not to mention the economic impact LSU football has on the Baton Rouge area in general and LSU specifically.

As a result, my concern is not with Miles the person, but with Miles the head coach. I am sorry, but no one in their right mind could have watched what happened in the final minute against Ole Miss and honestly believe that the LSU football program is in good hands with Miles and Gary Crowton as a high school coach would not have made such repeated mistakes in the final minute of a game. Even people I know who are not knowledgable football fans were shocked by what happened. And what adds insult to injury is the fact LSU is paying Miles $4 million a year to essentially collect a check as you cannot say he did anything on Saturday at Ole Miss to justify making that type of money.

I will always support the team, and I will continue to support Coach Miles while he is at LSU. However, I think at this point, everyone knows that Miles is on borrowed time. The only way Miles can save his job is to win the last two games of this season and win the SEC West next year, neither of which, I think, are going to happen. That does not make me a fair weather fan, that makes me a realist. And the reality for LSU football is that the current situation is most likely to get worse until Miles is replaced with a coach who wants to be at LSU and who is capable of coaching at this level.

You have to admit, Miles is starting to look like the worst coach in the SEC. At this point, I think even Johnson and Mullen may have been able to win the west with our current roster.

Are you kidding? To me it is extremely obvious that those two coaches are head and shoulders above our coach.

I was a BIG Miles fan before Saturday's clusterf**k. I've supported him and defended him through four and three quarter seasons. After Saturday, no more. I was literally standing watching the game and my jaw hit the floor...I was speechless. To call me a fair weather fan because I've changed my mind is rediculous. I've had season tix since 1970 and up until this year have missed a total of four home games during that span.....and made MANY away games, no matter who the coach is or was.
I support LSU with my heart and soul.

With that said, Miles, the man, I like. Miles, the coach, is in way over his head. I realized that Saturday. He is NOT the coach for LSU.

As much as it pains me to type this, I no longer believe in him. I wanted him to succeed being that he seems like a genuinely good guy who honestly cares about his players and the school. I love that in a coach, but his understanding of the game and management of it are absolutely horrible. I would love to be wrong and for him to turn it around, but I don't see it happening. I will forever support LSU Football and watch this team through the worst of times. But Miles unfortunately seems to not be the coach we need to keep us at an elite level. It is a sad day for me as I was hoping one of the good guys could prove the doubters wrong and solidify himself as a top coach in college football. But what I watched Saturday was someone that had no clue what to do in the tough times of a tight game even when the ball was bouncing in his direction. His incompetence has simply reached the point where he has to be replaced in order for us to remain dominant. We have access to some of the best, if not the best talent in America. We need someone who knows what to do with it. Thanks you Miles for being a class act. I hope your replacement can bring forth the shortcoming that you unfortunately lacked while possessing the good qualties that you brought to this team.
Signed,
a very solemn Tiger fan

Let's make this distinction:

Les Miles is not LSU. LSU is LSU. Les Miles is paid 4 mil per year to head coach the LSU football team.

Miles is not LSU. Just because we don't support Miles does not mean we don't support LSU.

I no longer support Les Miles. I want him out of LSU as soon as possible for the sake of the LSU football program.

Right now I'd take any other SEC coach over Miles. Not one of the others would come off as so incompetent.

Before this game I was willing to give a Miles a shot to replace Crowton...this last debacle made me realize Miles needs to go.

I've been skeptical since the 2005 21pt come from behind debacle against Tennessee against our former backup QB that wasn't good enough to start for us. This just solidified any concerns.

Prior to Saturday I thought he deserved a lot more time and that Crowton needed to go. Well I have reaffirmed my opinion that crowton needs to be dumped. (he is a wizard alright, it takes a real genius to achieve so little with so much talent) But Miles needs to man up, that debacle was ridiculous. If he felt we should have run the ball then we should have...( he is the HC not Crowton that is his decision, He is on the sideline he needs to know when we have called timeout, He needs to have the field goal team ready to go in. The team commits to many penalties and has poor on the field discipline that all points to coaching. Changes need to be made and fast. 8-8 without a Victory over a real team with a winning record is not acceptable. The only team worth anything that we have managed to beat is Auburn..And they are mediocre at best...

do you recall the village idiot (Miles) hastily signaling for a time out after Laron Landry intercepted a pass late in that game as if he was trying to stop the clock???
