This isn't the first clock management blunder

Anybody remember him running the clock down against Auburn the year we won it all? All we needed was a field goal and he waited til there were 8 seconds remaining and ran a fade pattern that Byrd miraculously caught. If it were incomplete, the game is over and we lose...no SEC Championship game and NO NC! Miles had no idea how much time was left....
I'm a high school head coach and we all make mistakes but clock management MUST be a priority.

Hey Red,
It's great you're a HS coach and all, but this subject has been dealt with in a bazillion other threads.

Shamless plug.
You are on crack if you think the clock would have run down to zero if that game were on the road and there was no way in hell that was gonna run down to zero at home.

There was still 2 sec left. If Byrd doesn't catch it we still have 2 sec to kick a field goal.

shite, he let 40 seconds run off the clock before half this year against georgia when we had the ball at the 50 yard line. Only reason no one talks about it is because we got lucky and won.

There was one second left after the play, but the clock ran for a couple of seconds after the play was over. There would have been enough time to kick the field goal.

first...that's on Flynn in terms of time. this is well documented. the play came in with well over 20 seconds. Flynn took his sweet arse time and didn;t get the play snapped until 9 seconds or so.
HOWVER...even as big of a fan of Miles as I've been (feel free to look up any number of my posts to confirm this) I have ALWAYS maintained that throwing the ball there was a HORRIBLE call. the outcome was irrelevent...the issue was always risk/reward. there were simply so many bad things which could have occured unnecessarily there (and we saw one of them this past Saturday) that even while everyone around me in the stadium was going berzerl after the electrifying play, I stood there pointing at the play shouting "NO! NO!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!" To this day I have people in my section bring it up laughing. I'm thinking there will be less of that this Saturday, unfortunately...
but the time issue in this case wasn;t on Miles, it was on flynn. Bad call, no doubt...but flynn could have gotten off much faster if he wanted to.

Not Red Franklin, and not an original thought. It was a wrong thought anyway.

The OP presents a terrible example.
I will bring up Miles' first game in Tiger Stadium in 05. Right before half, clock management causes us to not get a FG attempt to finish the half.
Honestly, I think Miles is a good coach, but doesn't think on his feet under pressure. Back to my 05 UT example, when Landry intercepts the ball, Miles starts jumping up and down calling timeout. Reminds me of Saturday's pressure moments...

He was a lineman. What did you expect?

we had no timeouts in the fourth quarter during the bama game. This calculates as a clock management blunder.

No guarantee you make the FG so give Miles credit for that one. He does need his credits you know.

the play was called with plenty of time.
flynn kept them at the line waiting
