Because he got a head coaching position. Is this a trick question?

Yeah, like we had a choice. Osbourne personally lobbied Pelini to take over at Nebraska. Easy decision.

No way he would turn down headcoaching opportunity at Neb. Coaches always look for the ladder up. That defense was sick. 8 sacks against a good TX OL. Suh was dominant.

In fact, most people in Nebraska felt he should have taken over after Osbourne retired.

I noticed that they crawed out of the ashes of destruction and won the game.... Pelini was oblivious here in 07 .. no pass rush led to defeats against two 2nd tier teams (Kentucky and Arkansas) His defense in the last 1 1/2 minutes tonight looked very familiar

C'mon. The kickoff out of bounds was the back breaker and then the horse collar put them in FG range in 7 seconds. I don't think that was Pelini's D failing.

Ndamukong Suh played out of his mind. He should seriously be considered for the Heisman

Not exactly.

Most people thought he should've got the NU job when they canned Frank Solich.

Pelini wasn't much in the picture when Osborne retired. It was a foregone conclusion when Solich got the gig.

The kicker blew the game and I don't think the 1 second should have been put back on the clock.

There was 1 second on the clock when the ball hit the ground... and the ball after the kickoff was placed 30 yards from the field goal spot. I dislike Texas as much as Bama... but Pelini gave them the game. This thread was about what a pity it is he's gone. I'm glad he's gone.
