Playoff Bill set to go to the House

Is anyone concerned about the playoffs bill being passed through the house? If it gets passed, the FTC will be given authority over the college football postseason. In my opinion, this is gonna make things alot tougher for LSU and the rest of the SEC, as the :fairness nazis" are gonna swoop in and work as hard as they can to knock down the big name schools and start giving out championships to cinci, hawaii, new mexico state community college, etc. Comments?

Been saying govt should stay out of sports since the stupid steroids hearings. They have much more important things.

Yeah, while we're at it, let's abolish the NCAA, considering that was created by the government.

yea its was created by the government so they wouldnt have to be involved with collegiate sports. but now they want in? those bastards need to worry about the bigger problems facing us

It is stupid but I don't care. It would have helped us in 2006 and not hurt us in 2003 or 2007.

And this would simply be a law stating that something that excludes teams from having a shot at competing cannot be marketed as a national championship. It's more about eliminating a monopoly through a single act that will require no further involvement on the government part. It's not like there will be a new cabinet position "Secretary of College Football".
This is a single act that will not lead to long-term government involvement in sports, which is why I likened opposing this to opposing the existence of the NCAA.
Think before YOU post.

They have a shot at competing, in fact they compete all year long.

Who would the gigantic clusterfrick of a government getting involved in college football, a game played by teenagers and twenty-somethings, help the most?
No way, schools like TCU?
Try to offer a less obviously biased opinion, fricktard.

Not wanting a system in which teams like Texas can play nobody and retard sportswriters can vote them into the championship makes me a fricktard? LSU would've gone undefeated with their schedule this season EASILY.
There will come a time when there are two conferences that people consider to be at least on par with the SEC and sportswriters will decide that the champions of those two conferences deserve to play for a championship over the champion of the SEC when the teams all have undefeated or at least comparable records. It's happened before, and it will happen again, you morons just don't think about it because you think that the SEC will always be thought of as the best in the land for all time to come. When you grow up, you'll realize that one of the only certainties in life is that the status quo changes.
By the way, look at my name--Tigers is listed before Frogs, and that's not an accident. I'm more worried about LSU being screwed in the future than I am about TCU getting screwed right now.

glad to see the gov't can take over everything in our lives (health care, exhaling) and still have time to ruin college football. Find me where in our founding documents it says this is the domain of Wash DC. If you're in favor of a playoff that's one thing...but if you're in favor of it being brought about by gov't action you're ignorant of history and deserve exactly what's coming down the road.....

Not that the government is going to take over football, but since that appears to be what you guys think is going to happen, why is it that you geniuses don't trust the government with college football, but you trust it with someone that is infinitely more complicated than saying "hey, don't call it a national championship anymore unless there's a tournament"?

Congress has no business getting involved in how college football chooses a champion. I think they have more important matters to deal with.
