I already have a 360 that I use for gaming/netflix/DVD and media center. I've been thinking about putting up the $$ for a blu ray, is it worth it to get a PS3 for blu ray? Or am I better off buying a regular blu ray player?

Regardless of media, gaming, etc. I think the PS3 is still the best way to go in regards to a Blu-Ray player.

Just stream netflix HD. Soon everything will be on there, cause BD is a dying breed.

If you have to have one tho, just get a cheaper BD player. No need to splurge 3G's for a PS3 if you aren't intending to play the games.

also: apparently they're releasing a new blu-ray standard for 3D movies, and the PS3 is the only current blu-ray player on the market that will be able to utilize it.

And I'm saying that b/c it's what this guy did:

<------------------------------

Have a PS3 I got basically for free with a sweet BestBuy TV deal, and the thing is a game virgin. Only use it for the occasional netflix BD.

eventually.

Honestly tho, their selection is improving, and is supposed to double in size in the next calendar year. Don't know if that means more new releases or not.

What I do know tho, is that if you aren't big on buying movies, and rather rent them, you can utilize the new 360 zune service or the amazon movie rental service to get anything and everything 1080P streamed for cheaper than your local BB rental.

PS3s don't cost anything close to $3,000.

Honestly the cheapest Bluray player you are going to be able to find is going to be around $180. Why not just spend a little bit more money and get the best bluray player that is available with the PS3? Don't go to club Bamboo one weekend and skip the tanning parlor and there is the extra money.

Nope, you can get a Sony or a Samsung for around $125. I still think that getting a PS3 is worth it, but if you have absolutely no intention of ever playing any games then I would go with a basic Sony or Samsung and save $175.

ps3 also gives you the ability to use the internet as well to stream for justin tv or hulu. also allows you to plug in an external hard drive and watch movies. ps3 + ipttorrents has completly changed my life as far as movies are concerned

I have 2 PS3.. One is the media hub of our den as well as a game machine. I have a 2nd PS3 in my computer media room that is more centered toward gaming. I love the PS3 and with the software updates from Sony the PS3 will continue to be a major part of my home entertainment.

Unless you do illegal things (bit torrents) and make mods, it can't. PS3's don't natively run flash applications.

Can also be done with the 360. Great piece of software in my opinion.
