thought it was a team sport, i can think of plenty of people to blame:

Crowton
Miles
Jefferson
Offensive Line
Running Backs
etc.

Offensive line has to play better
Running backs have to pick up key yards
Offensive play calling needs more diversity
Jefferson needs to deliver the ball better and make quicker decisions
Receivers need to hang onto those passes

Shepard was NOT a 5-star WR. I really dont think he'll make an impact at WR this season. Way too short of a time to learn an entirely new position and be effective in the SEC. We really should continue to develop him at QB, get him 8-10 snaps a game from there (wildcat, whatnot) then use him in a Trindon Holliday role on offense outside of that.

On top of that, if he can catch punts and kicks, he should definitely be the KR/PR

It's all on the offensive line. If we don't have an effective running game because they can't do their job, we may as well expect another episode of this past season. It's that simple. If we run the ball effectively, we will be tough to stop on offense.

im with you, if you're talkin about jj.

hate to break it to people but all you need is be able to run the ball when you need to. late in games with a fg lead, ending out halfs, out of bad field position, ect. 50 yards a game ain't bad if it comes at the right time.

and i also hate to break it to everyone but playcall diversity is not an issue. it's the same routes in the same offense being called by the same coach that was once called a wizzard, and broke records at lsu in his first year.

it all hinges on jj. people dont give him credit for pocket awareness but it's not that. i've watched the games, he knows, most of the time, when he's gonna get hit. he was just scared to turn the ball loose and throw a pick. as the year went on, from auburn on really, he let throws go and became a much better qb. threw more ints, but for more yards and tds as well.

Let me guess, you don't think the OL has anything to do with it either? Good gosh, don't know why, but I'm still amazed at the stupidity posted here. Sure JJ has to improve but everyone must do their job for it to click and be successful.

Yeah when Drew Brees or Peyton Manning is your quarterback maybe.

Nonsense, there's enough blame here on Rant to blame the whole roster, and stll have plenty left for cheerleaders.

when the o-line sucks, good QB's normally just do like JJ and take sack after sack and show no sense of urgency

That is WAY too many snaps for Jefferson to be on the sidelines when he needs to develop himself.

No it isn't. LAst year, sure, because we ran something pathetic like 45 snaps a game. But if we're running 60-65 snaps a game, yeah, Shepard should be getting about 8-10 from QB. Jefferson doesnt need to take all these hits on option plays. Remember how often Perrilloux would come in...when he wasn't in trouble?

Damn. JJ has how many snaps from center under his belt? 5% of those would make what kind of difference??

Yes, and I don't think it was for 8-10 snaps a game. And he couldn't play any other position, whereas Shep can. And Flynn, though he might have started less games than Jefferson will have, was also a mature 5th-year, 23-year-old SR. Jefferson needs the reps. I don't mind Shep having a few, I just think 8-10 is quite a lot. If you have to give him the ball that many times behind center, might as well start him there.

The Les Miles approach, and he has alluded to this himself is that if its not working, keep doing it until you do. If you agree with the Les Miles approach, keeping players who are contributing to the ineffectiveness in the game would be the correct thing to do, as opposed to trying something else if what you want to do, isn't working. So for those agreeing with the Les Miles approach, keeping Shep and Randle to a minimum was the right thing to do. We certainly would not want to try something different.
