After the Hunt - John Folse
Mostly because it was the most expensive. It doesn't have the best recipes, but it has a lot of different recipes for random stuff, and since I very rarely follow recipes I like it because it gives me good ideas.

Although, I've never cooked a thing out of it, I really like my French Laundry Cookbook.

Of course, I doubt it's among the top things I'm worrying about if my house is ablaze.

We have a Louisiana cookbook that the Times Picayune put out for the World's Fair in 84.

The Barbie cookbook my Mom gave me when I was a child.

Most of the rest can be replaced.

it would be my mom's hand me down box of recipes. they may not be culinary awesomeness (some betty crocker) but some are my dead grandmother's recipes for tamales, menudo, etc.

i can replace any other damn cookbook. cant replace that stuff.

Thread hijack, but they had a great program on the 84 world's fair on WYES the other night. I think you can catch it again soon, one can defintitely order the dvd.

Anyway, I loved that fair, it was a great time, but a total financial boondoggle. Of course, it turned out to be one of the best things ever for the city's development and its long term economy.

ETA, in keeping with the spirit of this thread, if my house was on fire, I'd save my '84 World's Fair glass before any cookbook that I own.
