re: I am an engineer

I had an engineer looking for me one day at work. Said he need a wall knocked out, extend his roof, make a larger bathroom on the second floor. This guy was from France, the wife, from Mexico. I walked into their house, he talked to his kids in French, the wife, in Spanish, while in the house. Outside the house, they all spoke English. The kids were young and a were trilingual.
Since I built and flipped houses, he asked if I’d come take a look at it.

I went up stairs, took one look and figured it out. He starts telling me, we are going to remove everything, pull the tub and toilet. Extend the wall, the same with the roof. I said, nope. He looks at me, what do you mean nope? I said you have a big area here, leave the tub and toilet, use the area here.
We come back downstairs and he tells the wife, we have it figured out. Then says, well actually, he figured it out.

I have a number of other stories.

Engineers use to come to me with problems. Both inside and outside of work.

Not really, I ordered Queso and The Street Corn. Didn’t have an urge for a Taco.

My opinion. Both were not very good. Just wanted others opinion. I really don’t like to bash a place.
Queso and Street Corn are two of the easiest to prepare.

Guess I was expecting a little more.

Went today here in Texas, tried the Queso and Street Corn. Didn’t try a Taco.
Please let us know what you find. Thanks.

Anyone Try Taco Fuego?

Had my first try today. They have a few here in my area in Texas.

Would like other folks opinion!
Ok, great , a little more information. When building a house, the plumber handles vent pipes through the roof, also vent lines for bathroom vents. They also handle vents for gas furnaces.
They run these lines up to or through the roof. The roofers handle it from there, using the right products for roof applications.

With that, a good friend had squirrels in his attic, getting in through a roof vent for his gas cooktop.

I gave him this guys number, once we got the squirrels out. He got the vent needed, replaced and sealed.

His wife usually answers and books the jobs.
Tell her Dave with Gatway Roofing, recommend Carlos.
Great work at more than fair prices.

Carlos has replaced decking, flashing around a leaking chimney. He’s very good at what he does.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Close call

It could have been me!
In 1992 I sold my house, a few months later, the guy that bought it, was killed in the house.
Looking back over the years, I’ve had at least 21 vehicles. Never lost an engine.

I did have a busted line to the transmission from the cooler. Cold morning, only a couple blocks from the house. Called a buddy, with a mobile service. We replaced both lines, added new fluid, started the motor, kept the brakes on. Ran it through the gears, without moving, shut it down, topped off the fluid. Did the same thing. Started driving it. Put over 100k more miles, w/o a problem. Sold it to the guy next door. No problems.
