Nice to see them recruiting instate rather than filling a class full of Australians.

Some of the Australians are very good such as Bose. I would have him on my team any day, but the majority over the past few years are tall, fundamentally sound but not very athletic and have a great deal of trouble dealing with the style of play.

There is a big push to get local guys but to be honest most kids in the Louisiana have a hard time getting qualified.(example Shavon Coleman who is a stud). APR has changed how AD's run their programs. Nicholls Athletics has dramatically increase their academic standards because they can't afford to lose scholarships.

With that being said in fairness about half of the australion kids have done a good job at Nicholls.

I'm happy to see them snag a Houma kid. I thought they missed out on Deshawn Patterson a couple of years ago.

That's a nice class.

On the issue of the foreign players, that's a way for small schools to potentially get a difference maker. One problem is that they often get them sight unseen, based on the word of scouts. The players often are not as good as projected.

I don't think so from what I've read. I was really bored and decided to research those guys a little because everyone always brings up the Aussie pipeline.

Nicholls Aussies
2001-2003 Damien Lennon
Solid Player 10ppg senior

2003-2007 Stefan Blaszczynski
All conference 19ppg senior

2003-2004 Kieran Gleeson
Not very good

2005-2009 Ryan Bathie
All conference 16ppg senior

2005-2009 Michael Czepil
Knee injuries i think

2006-2008 Mitch Boyce
Not very good

2005-2010 Dominque Friend
Solid Role Player

2007-pres Anatoly Bose
Potential 2nd RD NBA
21.1 ppg junior

2008-pres Cameron McCallum
Has not been great so far

Out of 9 guys you have
1 great player
2 more all conference guys
2 role players
1 injury bug
3 not very good

Must not look much like a basketball arena from the outside.

Read that Nicholls considers it small size sort of a home court advantage since most teams aren't used to playing in such a small arena.

Looks like a standard high school gym on the outside and inside.

off topic, but does anyone thing nicholls could have landed Cedric Jenkins 6'2, 185 Reserve Christian/Riverside Academy, local guy plently of talent, committed in April to Southern Miss, best other offer was LA Tech, with this guy being so close to nicholls they may have been able to land him.

Yea Southern Miss is in conference USA which is two steps up from the Southland conference. Don't sleep on Nicholls this year though. They are returning every single player and adding some really good recruits.
