OU and TAMU alienating themselves from Texas would benefit them

No wonder Texas is so worried about this. They would lose virtually all the power they currently have over both schools. A move by all to the Pac would keep Texas in the dominant position. A move to the SEC by OU and TAMU would piss off Texas because it would keep the dominance of the SEC at the forefront of the southeast and southwest while minimizing the effects of a Texas move to the Pac.
Aside from the political problems or even the loss of a rivalry, TAMU and OU would be stupid to continue down the path of Texas' ugly step children.

OU isn't even Texas's stepchild - they are a superior program historically and have won the Big 12 a lot more than Texas
But agree they don't stand to lose very much if they end up wanting the SEC and Texas does not

It is interesting that two schools with such pride and tradition are apparently willing to be Texas' bitches.

exactly. i'm sure they both see how UT is attempting to use them in this situation. OU and TAMU need to do what's in the best interest, and that's NOT joining the Pussy 10.

Texas still has all the power in that conference. I don't care how successful OU has been.

They have the authority only because Oklahoma gives it to them. Not sure why Oklahoma feels inferior, but they apparently do.

Hence why a united TAMU and OU pits a big problem for Texas. If I were running the show at either university, I would look to how it benefits my university regardless of traditional rivalries. OU was fine stopping the Nebraska game. No reason why they shouldn't say fvck the Red River Shootout and be in a true power conference without Texas.
