I can't see the benefit for LSU or most of the rest of the SEC of adding TAMU to the SEC. TAMU would rarely get selected for the CBS game of the week and just as rarely show up on the ESPN 7:00 game. That doesn't give ESPN or CBS any reason to renegotiate their contracts with the SEC and those stations are on in Texas already so there wouldn't be any additional subscriber revenue coming to the SEC. This is all based on an article on CNBC about the lack of financial sense expansion makes for the schools adding teams not name UT or Notre Dame. So if we add TAMU and another school we split approximately the same $200+ million an extra 2 ways. And as for the access to Texas, adding TAMU to the conference won't help LSU. LSU already gets plenty of top recruits from Houston and southeast Texas. If TAMU is in the SEC, it would probably help their recruiting because you wouldn't have to go to Baton Rouge or further to play in the SEC, you could stay just an hour or so away from home and play in the SEC. It may actually hurt LSU recruiting because it would expand Alabama's, Auburn's and other SEC team's access to Texas. So I far one am all for the Aggies coming to their senses and going West with rest of the Big 12 south (minus Baylor) or keeping the BIG 12 minus 2 together.

SEC schools signed just six of Texas’ top 100 recruits in 2010 according to Rivals.com (Big 12 schools signed 66 of them).

You don't think A&M would be a regular on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU while bringing the Texas advertising market with them?

Those of us old-timers who were around during the '60s remember some hard-fought, low-scoring games when the Aggies were a yearly opponent.

This would be getting back to the future, returning to a traditional rival. The series is close, 26-20-3 in favor of LSU.

I think it would be great for both schools.

They could only get on TV 5 times last season in the Big 12 so no, I don't think they would consistently make the CBS or primetime ESPN game

pretty darn good considering they suck and their real marquee matchups are OU and Texas and thats it imo.....I think that number would go up playing in the SEC.

I can't believe that the cable/satellite payments to the conferences are based solely on the number of subscribers in a market. If that were the case then the SEC could add Rice and SMU and have an instant $$$ windfall from the DFW and Houston markets while giving LSU, Bama, and Florida two more cupcake teams to play. If you wanted 16 teams then add Florida Atlantic and Florida International, get more $$$ from the Miami/Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach markets and provide two more cupcakes.

I have to believe that the payments are based on some combination of subscribers AND ratings. That's why the SEC really would like to have UT and OU first (two national programs with lots of viewers plus access to Texas recruits) but with A&M on board will happily sing "Goodbye to Texas University" all the way to their investment broker's office.

FOR THE frickING LIFE OF ME I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHERE THIS shite COMES FROM. adding aTm will now help teams in alabama recruit TX? how? is alabama moving closer to TX? are they up-rooting the whole state? this is the 21st century. on any given saturday(and thurday night, sometimes wed night, ect.) you can find 90% of games on tv or online. these kids here in TX- theyve heard of bama before. theyve seen em on TV. they read about them online. playing every other year in texas DOES NOT AFFECT RECRUITING. this isnt the 1920s where kids have never heard of universities their parents didnt go to.

this theory about recruitment/ getting a foot in TX damaging recruiting NEEDS TO STOP. NOW.

you know what will hurt LSU recruiting in TX? aTm being good. all of a sudden kids only have to drive 1 hour to play big time college ball- not 4 hours to baton rouge.

Agreed n that it will hurt LSUs recruiting, we already have a huge presence n east Texas... This just gives A&M more power to tell Texas recruits they can stay n TX & still play n the SEC, also opens up TX to Saban, Meyer & the rest of the SEC as far as recruiting is concerned

yes, good point, its impossible for a football program to ever improve, what they are now is what they always will be.

Bad teams don't get on TV also Big 12 TV deals basically suck

I didn't realize it was currently closed.

Someone should have told that OL from the Woodlands, Texas that signed with Bama.

I think at least 2 (Tulane and what ever UL team we played) were PPV only. If you have ESPN gameplan outside of La, its available.

The SEC gets almost ZERO coverage in TX right now. If A&M joins up that will change and will certainly be a mjaor selling point for the Meyers & Sabans of the world, not to mention A&M being able to sell TX kids on stayin home and still being able to play n the tougher conferance n the country

my point: it won't help our recruiting like some claim. we already have a good thing going n East TX, I don't see how adding A&M woul help LSU, maybe it helps A&M and the rest of the SEC, but not us
