Oklahoma population- 3.6 million
Texas population- 24.8 million
This should mostly explain it for you.

You are wrong. The majority of players at OU come from Where? that's right TEXAS, so if Texas stays OU has to stay otherwise OU recruiting will go under. Kids go to OU because they can go back to Texas to play every year. If OU stay OSU stays because of the same reasons.
Now, If I'm running OU football, I tell the Big XII the pie is to be shared equally because OU stayed as did OSU.

I think it would impact OU recruiting because Stoops can go to recruits with the guarantee that they will play in front of home-town folks and family. Yes I think it is a selling point to recruits.

Oklahoma did fine recruiting all those years in the Big 8. And they'd probably keep the rivalry with Texas going. I think the recruiting angle (advantages and disadvantages) in all of this is overrated.

Disagree! I think that if OU would have gone to the PAC-10 the PAC-16 would have happened without TAMU. OU was going to go to the SEC which destroyed the whole PAC-16 plan.

OU and Texas have been playing in Dallas since 1912 (with only a couple of years off). Being in the same conference (or even division) has had nothing to do with it.
