We went out of Grand Isle on an overnight offshore trip this past Saturday in the Gulf. You have to go at least 75 miles west to even reach the open fishing waters. Anyway, we traveled over 250 miles round trip and had the BEST fishing trip ever. We did not see a single speck of oil. Not one. We could have passed over dispersed oil, but I honestly don't think we did. I have seen the dispersed oil one time before, and I am fairly certain that we didn't see any. The water was as beautiful as I have ever seen it. I even snorkeled, and spearfished in it, so as far as I could see down the water was gorgeous. I think the currents are helping LA in a big way.

Totals for the trip:
12 Red Snapper
18 Mangrove Snapper
6 Amberjack
13 Blackfin Tuna
1 Yellowfin Tuna

Without a doubt the best trip I have ever been on, it was incredible.

i would assumse so. however, this was not a guided trip.

PSA: There is absolutely no reason, at this point, to cancel an offshore trip in the western part of the state.

I'm going on an over-nighter out of either Dularge or Cocodrie next weekend. Mind giving me some hints? Mainly looking for water depths to stop at for the snapper and aj's. Just don't wanna waste time in 100' of water if they are sitting deeper.

Also, did y'all have to go all the way to the floaters for the tuna or did you find them closer in?

From what I hear from some divers the snapper are right at 150'. they'll get deeper as it warms up.

Thanks andI completely understand. Not looking for or expecting specifics. Just general direction.

I really appreciate the report. I am dying to get out there. I'll be sure and post after our trip.
