the incident command posts are kicking arse out there, beach impact is minimal and the voo's and offshore assets are skimming the frick out of the oil day in and day out.
the situation will always suck but there is alot of people involved doing their best to fix this shite.

Ive been working this spill since day 10 and have seen the efforts day in and day out - yes i am an apologist because there are alot of people having nothing to do with the deepwater rig and the leak, who are busting their arse and getting shite done. Sometimes people need to take a moment and appreciate what a massive response this has been and stop whining about the other shite, especially on a day like today where hundreds of people sacrificed spending fathers day with their families in order to reduce shoreline impacts and get shite done.

well, I'll start by thanking you ....thank you ... what do you do ?
Posted on 6/20/10 at 11:42 pm to Zilla
ill just describe it as using GIS and other data to assist operations and situational awareness. Also I get to look at some cool arse photos and aerials all day.
im not looking for thanks for myself, just think people need to step back and realize what a massive response this is and alot of people are working their asses off in order reduce impacts

Which area are you working on? Or does your job span the area command centers. I was down at Grand Isle Saturday as a visitor. Got the tour of the area wherever I asked to go. Lots of fish busting and such. Drove me nuts that I couldn't fish.
I visited elmers island, grand isle and queen bess island.
Get this. a-hole tree hugger freaks have been shadowing the people working on the cleanup trying to catch them doing something wrong. Well I can't prove it in a court of law but they ran across the boom that protect queen bess island so they could get some pictures. They broke some bird eggs in the process as this is the nesting time.
There is some bad oiled areas up from where I was at towards Lafitte but the Grand Isle areas for sure is kicking arse with the cleanup just like you said.
spotter aircraft, spotter boats runnning around looking for oil. Skimmers in the gulf, directional boom and skimmers in the pass. Protective boom on lots of marsh. Boom on the beach. It was amazing. They have that are under control for sure.
Spotter aircraft said there was a light sheen in the bay but I never even noticed it. No smell that I ever detected.
It was impressive to say the least.

trying to hold back the ocean with a broom..
oil volcano..don't use the word spill
165,000 barrels a day is most likely gushing
24/7 Corexit spraying..anyone skimming that poison
methane explosion or benzene poisoning from the burning
coverups, lies, and propaganda
just so you people know..they seem to have destroyed the gulf and may have killed us all.

Picture of worker finishing up fixing the boom and repositioning it on Queen Bess Island. This is where the eggs were broken and the boom run over.

There are a lot of "little guys" out there in the trenches... some are even under the "BP umbrella"...
both trained professionals and "just want to help" types... who are diligently going about the back-breaking work of fixing a mess that is none of their doing.
I, for one, respect the hell out of these folks and will never confuse them with the money/power-driven Poli-Big Business sh*tbags who got us into this mess (and are drowning us in it).

Killing us all??
That's a bit dramatic. The dispersal works and our "brooms" are doing a hell of a job keeping heavy oil off the ms to fl coast. If some tarballs wash ashore it can be certain crews will be on the beach cleaning as soon as it makes sense in the operational picture

do you realize that everyone working to solve this loves the gulf as well? probably more than most greenpeace people? they are the fisherman and all that enjoy the gulf all the time, they dont want it destroyed.

I've been on Grand Isle for a month now, I agree completely with CE Tiger and Omegaman. When I talk with my wife & parents on the phone they ask me questions about what they are seeing and hearing on the news reports, and it is nothing like what they are describing. The situation is not that bad at all here. Lots of people doing an outstanding job of cleaning, and keeping this area clean. All of you, or I should say, MOST of you would be proud of the efforts. Drive down here and take a look!
oh and bring your wallets, these people need our business!

Thanks for what your doing CE.
They have wacko extremist on both sides, just shake them off.
Most inteligent people know the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Thank you for what you do

I appreciate those working hard and many/most live all along the coast.
BUT, before you applaud all the efforts as successful (devised by the top big money folks who started this), realize that these efforts have but captured a spoon full of oil by comparison.
The shite has been released and it is out there........it will get much much worse before it gets better. Hell, they haven't even stopped it yet.
again, I applaud those busting their arse on the front lines.

We all agree that it isnt good Chuck, its a real shitty situation
Me, and others, I assume, are applauding progress and hard work. And that spoonfull is better than what was being caught
